Olive Garden and Red Lobster being so mediocre are the primary reason I started focusing on patronizing local restaurants. Since the food quality is going to be dependent upon the cook either way, I’ll stick with small, out-of-the-way spots.

I will have to disagree with you.

I believe that one can and should be able to display the flag of the United States in any environment in this country without having to allow banners celebrating people who want to put reproductive body parts into body parts used for excretion or banners for people who believe that killing innocents in the name of their God is a primary virtue.

I believe that the flag of The United States of America has a completely unique and different meaning than any other banner, and as such, should not be treated in the same fashion as a birthday banner.

I admit that this is my opinion, but I also agree that customers should be able to patronize any establishment they wish, and if I had a restaurant, and an American flag on the wall distressed any of my customers enough to cause them to complain, I would return their money to them and ask them to leave.

It sounds like the obverse is true for Olive Garden, and they would prefer to have things the other way around. I don’t have a problem accomodating that.

Same group that supports Michelle Obama’s fat reduction plan...so it figures they hate our country, too.

Darden Restaurants:

Red Lobster
Olive Garden
LongHorn Steakhouse
The Capital Grille
Bahama Breeze
Seasons 52

Just sent off an email to investor relations at Darden.

...."I just found out about the flag policy of Darden. I can assure you I will never darken the door of any of your brands again. I'm also an investor that doesn't need to own your stock ever again. I will also discourage my family and friends to do the same. I don't want to support anyone that would find displaying the American flag "disruptive". If your not with us, you are with the enemy!"

I'm retired now and find the time to contact the weasels that seem to be taking over America. They need to understand their actions have consequences especially in a bad economy.

I live in Canada. Every evening I go for a one-hour walk. Out of 223 homes passed the other evening, I counted 6 Canadian flags, 8 foreign flags, and 17 hockey team flags.

My mother lives in the deep South on a street with 27 homes; this Spring, I counted 14 homes with U.S. flags displayed.

Canadian-style socialist multi-culturalism has killed Canadian patriotism. Unless anyone has any other conclusions that might explain it.

Check out this statement:

"...ANNISTON, Ala. -- Officials with the parent company of Olive Garden restaurants say they're sorry if a decision regarding an Alabama Kiwanis club's desire to display the American flag caused any concern.."

That isn't an apology. That is the most infuriating kind of statement along the lines of "I'm sorry you were offended by my comments"

My parents dropped their Darden stock after they invited The First Wookie’s ‘Let’s Move’ initiative.

I saw that too. I think it is somehow bogus. Hard to imagine a producer at NBCUniversal (whatever the heck that is) would put that on comments on a newspaper. Just seems odd.

Who wants to eat at an un-American restaurant that serves fake Italian food.

Yep. Olive Garden, like "Chillis", "Ruby Tuesday", or pretty much anything in the Darden family of restaurants, is a "safe" place. Like for large company lunches, or family get-togethers.

Nothing will taste really good, but nothing will taste awful, either. And everyone will find something on the menu that they'll eat. No one will walk out of the place saying "WOW! Dis you try the....?", but by the same token, no one will say "Man, that was terrible.....".

They're the Lite Beer of Restaurants, IMHO.

They've also been off my list for a good while now. :-) Mrs WBill and I can cook better, and cheaper, than those places.

To sum it up:

We have a ‘president’ who contemptuously refused to put his hand over his heart in the presence of the American Flag during the Pledge of Allegience.

This ‘president’ passed a national bankrupting, death panel Obamacare bill that everyone is required to participate in.

This restaurant got a pass and doesn’t have to participate with the bill.

Restaurant meets with the wookie and changes their menu to suit the ‘do as I say but not as I do’ fake agenda but she gets an exemption and can belly up to the all you can eat pig trough- and does! With gusto!

This restaurant has the same contemptuous attitude about the flag that this imposter in chief has.

Hmmmm... am I missing anything other than boycotting a restaurant who has admitted it has a very unhealthy menu such that the first lardy had to tell them to change it?
