Just judging by my wife’s reaction, I think that she’s lost a lot of clout and respect now. I think that in the minds of many people, her withdrawal has made her a joke. And those who still respect her, like me, are kind of angry that her decision took so long. I feel that I’ve simply wasted time on her. She is simply the girl who brings in the Gatorade to the team now. No, you don’t need the *title* that feeds one’s own ego, but you damn well need the authority to be able to right the ship.
BTW, America wasn’t approaching an Armageddon moment in 1976. Blessings, Bob

Right, it’s not happening, and it’s a tragedy for all of us. The field IS weak, and it becomes more apparent every week. Cain has risen only b/c the others have been dismal. Bob

People who were interested in you because they thought you were gonna run for President. You did nothing to discourage that notion. In fact, quite the opposite.

No. Frankly, it is because of what she had to say, because she held the administration's feet to the fire, she has remained outspoken, and hopefully, will continue to be.

I had hoped she would run, but I trust her judgement, and honestly think upon reconsideration that she can do more good helping to get the sort of people elected who will turn back the Obamite policies, regulations, rein in the overgovernment and overspending. We can't do it with just someone in the white house.

We need a clear majority of people in COngress with enough spine to hold the line, and we are not there yet.

We have a conservative running against Mitt in Cain. Another would split the vote and Romney would get the nod, to the acclaim of the RINO herd and the Dems (who can beat him) alike.

Have a little faith that she is doing the right thing, after all you believe she is capable of being the most powerful person in the Free World.

When the GOP nominates a candidate, she will fade into the background.

She promises much, but delivers little.

She has gvien us great ideas, inspiringly expressed, and shown great strength as she weathered merciless assaults on herself and her family (but note, not much criticism of her ideas).

This constant effort to place her in some heroine role because she is 'assaulted' by the MSM is simply nonsense.

Politics has always been tough and personal attacks on both the candidate and their family quite common.

If you want some examples go back to Andrew Jackson and the attacks on him and his wife.

If you want some examples of true heroism and self-sacrifice, read about his mother. Read about John Adam's wife, who had to keep her family together while Adams was doing the nation's business.

All Sarah has done is TALK.

“Just wait for the primaries. When Gov Palin sees the vote fragmented given the mediocre field of candidates, she could still throw her hat in, and I can even see the Electoral College deciding to give her the nomination, regardless of the primaries.”

So then all of this stuff about her family was nothing but a song-and-dance?

Face it, hopes for a Palin presidency are gone. She will never have enough trust put in her for that, ever again.

In my recent posts my main point has been that we’ll have to wait and see how Palin does.

“Those crowds are going to get smaller and smaller.”

In the short term, perhaps. But she’ll still be the same appealing Sarah Palin that conservatives once loved.
After she made her announcement, I ‘unliked’ her for a few hours. But then I ‘liked’ her because she’s one of us and we should never abandon our conservative friends.

yeah. I wasn’t one of the palin for president people. But I always had her on facebook because she was able to reach out to people in a way that Rush, Beck, etc could not. But what she did was such a let down to her fans that I thought she deserved an unlike for a few hours.
FWIW

No doubt she has good views, the question is why would anyone give her some special credibility?

I agree - I believe she was running (or planning to run ) the entire time - nothing else makes sense (given the speeches, bioptic, bus tours, etc). Something must have happened externally to force her to slam that door shut. Family? But I would have thought they would have thrashed that issue out a long time ago. Threats? Who knows... Her attempts at rationalization (”I can have more influence ‘unshackled’ from a campaign”) were frankly lame and non-sensical. As a Palin supporter, it doesn’t make sense. I can’t imagine she was intentionally stringing us and the country along.

I agree.....She’s not the type to “play a game with supporters”, “chase the money” ect, I don’t buy that.....Something closed that door and quickly.....One thing for sure as someone posted earlier, it is very short sighted to think she will have the same influence without the prospect of a Palin run for 2012.....Not going to happen.....She’s a threat to no one now....Not Obama, RINO establishment, no one....”Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me”....Without the prospect of power to make a change you are NO threat.....
