What do you mean, like "Bucky"? ;-)
Taxachussettes deserves to sit and lament their situation.....full of ass-clown Lib's and left-wing goofies.
Girardi had run through 11 pitchers in what he had announced ahead of time was a tune-up game. Scott Proctor, who serves up meatballs more often than Mama Leone, was the last pitcher left that Girardi was willing to expend in, what was for the Yankees, a meaningless game.
If you want to ascribe Alex Jones-like conspiracies to last night's events, I can't help you.
If they Yankees were trying to lose the game, they sure would have never been up 7-0.
Yes they were playing their scrubs, but for the scrubs, this game was the chance of lifetime, they sure were going to go all out.
LOL!
My Yanks won the division with the best record in the AL and the Red Sox didn’t even make the playoffs. I like it!
After listening all pre-season and all season about how great the 2011 Red Sox would be this year and how they were going to challenge the 1927 Yankees for the honor of the greatest team of all time. In the end, the Red Sox crashed and burned. The fantastic Adrien Gonzalez and the speedy Carl Crawford didn’t make a difference. Joke Beckett and Big Poopy are very sad.
Go Yankees!
Or if you're a Red Sox fan
Any time one of ESPN’s “darlings” gets knocked out of the playoffs, it’s a VERY good thing. The Yankees are next to go....
Go Rangers!!!! :-D
I assume you’re talking about 2009? The Tigers didn’t collapse that year so much as the Twins took off and played exceptionally well. Even then...there was a one game playoff to decide the division and it went to extra innings.
Hard to call that a “collapse”
There wasn't a one-game playoff, since both teams already qualified for the playoffs. The two teams were tied, but Minnesota got the Division, because they won the season series against the Tigers....but the Tigers got the last laugh, when they made it to the World Series (ok, so the Cardinals got the last laugh).
The guys on the MLB channel did a great job covering all the games.
My team (The Angels) did not make it this year so now I'm pulling for The Rangers, although I think it could be The Phillies at the end.
No...you’re confusing 2006 and 2009. In 2006 the Tigers lost on the final day o fthe season to wind up as the WC...they then went on to WS beating the Yankees and A’s before bowing to those f***ing Cardinals.
In 2009 they lead most of the season but got caught on the final weekend by the streaking Twins (who at one point won something like 17 out of 20) to force a one game playoff in Minnesota. The Twins won that game (ump missed a HBP call on Inge with the bases loaded) by a run and then went on to lose to the Yankees....
That’s right. I had totally forgotten about that one.
How much would you be willing to pay to get Napoli back?
Have pity on me. I've been a die-hard Red Sox fan since 1978 (first year of grad school; something about walking up that ramp and seeing the Green Monster was an epiphany) and I live in Atlanta.
The saving grace is that I'm a baseball fan first. I grew up in a household where I'd come into the kitchen for breakfast and my mother would say "Bobby Richardson went two for three last night and Aparicio stole his 41st."
As an adult I had the joy of taking that elderly mother and my own children to Braves playoff and World Series games, Wrigley Field, Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Camden Yards . . . Cooperstown, and so on. My mother turned 86 this week and has been to twenty-three MLB parks. The Great American Pastime.
The post-season's here. Let's play two!
Last night showed, why when it comes down to it, nothing matches baseball for pure drama. Even if you didn’t have a dog in the fight last, that was captivating watching last night...I kept hearing my inner voice saying like Jack Buck, “I don’t believe what I just saw.”
Yeh......that trade really backfired. The Angels trade him to the Blue Jays who immediately trade him to The Rangers. Wish they had got rid of Mathis instead.
Oh BOO HOO.!! Get over it Beantown elitist’s. So you missed the playoff’s this year. It’s not the end of the world.
Try sitting through a year of Padre games. :>0 #*?@**!
Ouch. Not a good night last night. I am sorry. I liked your story about your Mom. My mom was the professional sports fan in the house and cultivated my interest. She tells a story about me when I was 3 or 4 and asked her why some one would name their son 'Pink'. She said, "What? Who's named 'Pink'?" I said, "You know, Pink Rose."
