Odds are in the late 60s, if you turned on the radio you would have heard one of her songs:

Between 1968 and 1970 a number of artists had significant hits with her songs: The 5th Dimension with “Blowing Away”, “Wedding Bell Blues”, “Stoned Soul Picnic”, “Sweet Blindness”, “Save The Country” and “Black Patch”; Blood, Sweat & Tears and Peter, Paul & Mary with “And When I Die”; Three Dog Night and Maynard Ferguson with “Eli’s Coming”; and Streisand with “Stoney End”, “Time and Love”, and “Hands off the Man (Flim Flam Man)”.

I would say the Runaways should be in, but not Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, they basically had about two hit singles.

-Eric B. and Rakim? I’ll be the first to say they were very talented and pioneers of the rap genre. But in no way, shape, or form were they ever rock.

Then put them in the Rap Hall of Fame.

I have no idea who that lady is.

Was. She passed away in 1999.

You know, I agree with your statement, actually.

But I do see “Joan Jett” as a true ground-breaking girl rocker.

Why not just make a plaque for every band that’s ever sold a record?

>Guns N’ Roses — YEAH!<

The very first cassette tape I bought as a kid: Appetite for Destruction. Years later, I drive by fag-land in sta Monica and pass by the Troubador, then swing back to Gardner and Hollywood...where it all started.

How can Heart get in ahead of Rush, Skynyrd, Tull, others....?

How can Madonna get in ahead of Heart?! Heart has been active in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. They released an album last year that was in the top 10. I agree that Rush, Skynyrd, etc., should be inducted, too. So many worthy bands out there.

Donna Summer is the only nominee here with more charted hits than Tommy James and The Shondells. Tommy James’ songs spanned my teenage years with two or three big hits every year. Joan Jett’s No. 2 biggest hit was Crimson and Clover. The hits just came one after another: Hanky Panky, I Think We’re Alone, Mony Mony, Draggin’ The Line, Mirage, Crystal Blue Persuasion, Sweet Cherry Wine, It’s Only Love, Getting Together, etc.
On one website, it said Tommy James sold more records in 1968 and 1969 than anybody, including the Beatles.

The Cure have been around since 1976 non-stop , as you know . Heavily influential and creative band . They just sold out the Sydney Opera House for 3 nights playing their first 3 albums ONLY in their entirety . Says a lot . The Hall is a sad joke , but nevertheless they ought to get in ahead of anybody else on the list IMO . Donna Summer ???
