Nice, romantic guys finish last.

Women say they want a nice guy, but usually end up with a “Bad Boy” until they are 30 or so, then they marry some sucker who treated her like a queen, only to be rejected while she screwed guys that treated her like crap.

Then she settles for security with the nice guy.

I’ve seen it a million times.

Always watch what people do, not what they say.

Ask a younger woman what she wants, and she’ll say a romantic nice guy, but will reject them one after the other and sleep with guys that are unemployed and treat her like crap.

Then, like I said, when her looks start to fade, she goes for the security supplied by Mr. Nice Guy.

Wow. My first post here in years - and it is defending Dylan. Go figure...

But if you like Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, check out Black Diamond Bay. It’s a classic.

Seen it myself a hundred times. I was the nice guy they passed over time and again.

Had a roommate that absolutely treated them like as he said it “the sluts they are” and they would beg for more. I was young and naive and couldn’t figure it out.

Finally found the right woman and been married for 23 years this past week. She never played that game, well she was over 30 when we married...say what!

Are we talking about “The Last American Virgin”?

Perfect example of my previous post.

Man, I felt so bad for that kid at the end because I had been there too, but learned quickly about how to play the game, which is what it really is, even when you get older.

Dylan was/is a masterful poet. He grew up in an age when poets sang, not gave readings, so he adapted and became one himself.

He chose to adopt the name of a poet, Dylan Thomas, not a musician, although Thomas was a poet that used words as music.

Dylan’s genius is in the lyrics, not the music.

No way is Dylan only a lyricist. He is the best at both!

Personally I enjoy his music as well - have from day one, and he has the ability to express emotion with his voice. I am thinking of personal favorites like Sad Eyed Lady and Tambourine Man. However, a vocalist he isn’t.

We can agree to disagree, right?

Of course! I'm more re-familiarizing myself with posting here than anything else...it seems like it is back to how it was when I first came here. (Good thing.)

I hate to burst your bubble, but being recently back myself after an absence of several years, I am shocked at how nasty FReepers have become since then.

Especially the political threads. Every second post is RINO, RINO, RINO, which after all is an insulting term. People don’t seem to want to discuss issues. You simply cannot say anything in support of any candidate or even suggest one of the favorite sons or daughters here is unelectable without getting involved in a confrontation. Nothing is gained in these confrontations, IMO. No ideas are exchanged, nothing is learned, no information is gained. Just name calling back and forth.

If anyone is of the opinion that’s not accurate, then as a test I suggest you make a vanity post as to why you will vote for Romney or even Perry, or not vote for Palin if she runs, and see if you get an invitation to sensible discourse or raft of insults and ad hominem attacks in return.

When I posted to you “Can we agree to disagree?”, in my mind it was 50-50 as to whether the response would be pleasant or something else.

That song by Journey played at the end when the “nice guy” got dumped by his dream girl for the “Bad Boy” in a movie called “The Last American Virgin”

Very powerful ending as the “nice guy” who pursues the girl of his dreams thru out the movie and treats her like a Queen ends up getting unmercifully dumped by her.

She dumps him for the jerk that got her pregnant, refused to pay for an abortion while the “nice guy” did, and similar scenarios where you think the nice guy will get the girl and the movie would end happily as always.

Instead, after inviting him to her 18th B-Day party, she hooks up again with the Bad Boy, right after the Nice Guy pours out his heart to her and professes his love for her in a very emotional scene.

At the end, Nice Guy (Gary) is sitting in his car with tears running down his face while “Open Arms” by Journey plays. That’s what I thought your reference was.

Overall, it was a mediocre 80’s teen movie, but the ending hits you like a sledge hammer when “Gary” gets dumped at the end.

The movie ends with the previously mentioned scene with “Gary” the nice guy sitting in his car, crying, with “Open Arms” playing.

Worth sitting thru 89 minutes of a bad teen movie just for that scene as you fully expect “Gary” the nice guy to get the girl and she goes with the Bad Boy jerk who treated her like crap, even after “Gary” pours his heart out to her and professes his undying love for her.

Check it out if you have the chance.

SHEESH! Sounds like something I went through more times than I can count.
But I’m trying a new strategy.
Be the nice bad guy.
Look like a criminal, but have a heart of gold.

I’ll let you know how that turns out (Unless I end up in jail or something....)

>>> The love-sick man had also cobbled together a group of five other men to serve as vocal accompaniment for the late-night live performance

Arrest isn't enough. Execution, followed by imprisonment.
