In Lansing Michigan, a “medical” marijuana clinic has been handing out free pot to people who register to vote.

I wonder what would happen if a pharmacist decided to give out oxycontin to people who register to vote.

So, is what you’re saying is that we should legalize drugs, or just get rid of big government ‘War on Drugs’ agencies that so far made no impact whatsoever?

There is no war ON drugs. There is only the ‘appearance of a war’.

The appearance is conducted for the mollification of the public, and for an excuse to demand more taxpayer money.

The drug cartels run through a lot of money, in different denominations, which must be converted. The bankers and the politicians are in league with worldwide organized crime and drug trafficking, because of the money.

That is the reason why the border security is as lax as it is. It is to ensure that there is are ‘controlled’ areas where drugs and illegals can pass. By ‘controlled’, I mean controlled by the cartels.

The drug trade is one of the largest contributors to politicians, on both sides of the border.

That's why I asked for different points of view. What bothers me is the erosion of our civil liberties under the guise of 'protecting' us.

In Lansing Michigan, a “medical” marijuana clinic has been handing out free pot to people who register to vote.

This is inexcusable.

As if someone stoned would bother to go to a voting place and stand in line.

Of course, if they are democrats, they could probably vote from home or have someone vote for them.

The War on Murder and Rape has also failed.

Legalize it?

“Medical Marijuana” is a joke. It’s not even treated like medicine in those states. I have never seen a doctor employed by a pharmacy and only paid if he hands out prescriptions for _________. That just violates any idea of ethics in “medicine”.

That pretty much sums up my position as well. It is important to note that once a government organization gains a power from the citizenry, they NEVER voluntarily relinquish it.

What I am saying is that the war is now a war on law abiding citizens (ie gun control). Look at operation fast and furious. These agencies have no accountability whatsoever. The tip off is the usage of the four letter word 'czar'. Which is derived from the Roman 'Caesar'.

As I stated, add the excuse for our rapidly erosion of Constitutional rights as well.

They usually end up growing in size.

The War on Murder and Rape has also failed.

Yes, but only because criminals of this sort often get light sentences.

One can stretch any point to an absolute and make it absurd. No one is suggesting legalizing murder or rape, and the analogy to an individual ingesting chemicals of their own free will is unsound.

Oh, drugs are harmful to our bodies? So is McDonalds. Perhaps the government should demand that we only drink purified water and only eat organic vegetables with a bit of protein powder on them? If not, you're letting the corporate drug dealers win.*

* See what I did there?

The purpose of the drug war is to destroy the Constitution. And you are right, the government and politicians make a ton of money off the drug war. The only ones they are “fighting” are their competitors.

How many times have you read in the newspaper that some child molester finally killed a kid after being released four or five times before? That is the failure.

This administration is too happy to comply.

How can one say we are fighting this war with such porous borders? They are simply using it as an excuse to take away our rights. That is what I believe.

The war on drugs is being waged by agents with guns, rather than moms with frying pans. I do not use drugs now, but I most certainly was a recreational user back in the day (pre-career). The market forces of a father's backhand and a requirement to be coherent on the job were all it took for me to dismiss drugs as an unnecessary risk. I support private mechanisms such as employer drug testing (the company's policy choice) over federal intervention. I am ok with state regulation of drug use.

Like your username. How frequently do you ride?? Careful....
