This was popular with teenagers in Ohio some years back. They would boil the seed to remove the toxins then smoke it. The high wasn’t so pleasurable so the fad fizzled out in one summer.
I used to grow some. It was fun watching them open as the sun was going down. Lunar moths would visit them at night. The same moths are flying all over my mimosa trees at night now.
What kind of fool still messes with jimson weed in this day and age? I knew some idiots in high school who got into that stuff, and it didn’t end well. If you’re that desperate to get stoned, go buy some reefer or a bottle of booze.
It grows prolificly around here. My son’s scout leader warned the boys about it. He also warned that it can affect honey, if the hive happens to be around a field that is full of it.
Someone in my neighborhood had goats that stunk to high heaven. Another little old lady neighbor threatened to plant Jimson Weed next to the fence between their properties.
Hmmmm..... note to self, be nice to the little old lady.
I'm back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the long horn cattle feed on the lowly jimpson weed
I'm back in the saddle again..
They’re doing this at 17 years old? I call this fate culling the herd. I was in USMC boot camp when I was 17, I sure wasn’t ingesting deadly toxic plants to get high.
