Its a good reason to not wear baggy pants, anyway. Beside the fact they look sloppy. Gimme the old days with stirrups and knee socks. In the old days (well, pre-1960s), they were wearing baggy pants over the stirrups and socks, too. Personally, I've always preferred the non-baggy pants, stirrups and socks look.
For me, the old days is the early 70s, when the Cards and Phillies wore powder blue away unis.
For me, the old days is the early 70s, when the Cards and Phillies wore powder blue away unis.I hated those waistbands on the jerseys to which so many teams began moving in the 1970s. On the other hand, the Phillies' powder-blue road uniforms were a damn sight better than the stale-oatmeal-gray they took up in the mid-to-late 1980s.
Best road uniform I ever saw: The Mets, 1964-71, and they've gone back to that same style (it derives from a road uniform the New York Giants wore in the 1930s) since about 1999-2000.
Ugliest road uniform I ever saw: A tossup between the 1969 Seattle Pilots and the Padres, a few years ago, with the trapezoidal "San" and "Diego" on the breast.
