Yep, I like a lot of Kraftwerk’s pre-Autobahn stuff, when they still used acoustic instruments and the flute...they totally abandoned that after Autobahn for all electric.

"What exactly IS "progressive" rock? I've always thought that it's a combination of excellent musicianship and experimentation leading to evolution in sound... That's certainly a good description of Rush over the years, IMHO"
Great comment. Agree. Big fan of Rush along with plenty other acts mentioned in this thread. I'd probably include Megadeth and Van Halen as well. VH wasn't prog lyrically, but EVH's playing really didn't conform to any other recognizeable genre, and advanced rock musicianship.
Faith No More - is it possible to be 'prog' without the 5-minute guitar solos?

They are a great group of Musicians. When I hear the song Time by Alan Parsons I think this is the song I want played at my funeral. It is just so deep.

Not a huge fan of the genre, but occasionally I stumble across bands I like that I like. Anyone heard of Family?

or This Heat?

I have spent countless hours listening to 801 Live. Certainly one of the best live albums ever.

Absolutely brilliant.
I was sad that they never met the high standard again.

True, Rush’s last few albums have been a step in that direction, certainly the days of “Time Stand Still” are long gone.
