This sort of article really boils my blood. The first thing that comes to mind is give me a few minutes with CNA#1,2,3, &4. I’d like to do a little “re-conditioning” on them. Normally I’d go with 15 amps on a standard 110 circuit, but in their case they deserve the “deluxe” 20 amps 220 volt treatment.

“Not just in nursing homes but hospitals as well.”

When my brother was in the hospital (dying from AIDS as it turned out) we were getting nowhere getting answers.

I’ll never forget how my very mild mannered boss, who was usually telling me to “calm down” advised me to go to the hospital and “scream & yell”

“Mom was an R.N. She always told us this: the patients who have visiting families, families who check on their status, ask questions and DEMAND action if something isn’t provided ensured that the patients got better treatment.”

I’m sure this is all true. But don’t kid yourselves into thinking it can’t happen. My grandfather had at least 2 visitors daily, and had no physical marks on him. But since he was a stroke victim who could not communicate with us very well, we had no idea that he was routinely being humiliated and harrassed for the amusement of others until one nurse had the courage to turn on a couple of nurses aides.

Family members have no idea what is happening to their loved ones who suffer dementia in these animal houses.

When my dad retired from the Navy he became a nursing home inspector for the state. He did that because he knew of these kind of animals abusing nursing home residents and made it his mission to nail them and run them out of business. Which he did - regularly.

The interesting part was that two of his supervisors were being paid off by the owners of the worst nursing homes. He nailed them, too.

Sounds like the administrators/owners have little shame.

As we keep hearing about how the government can save BILLIONS “by reducing FRAUD in medicare and medicaid” (and yet they still haven’t seemed to find their ways into the accountants’ offices), I would suggest that we start the investigations into THIS owners’ operations.
