My own tongue-in-cheek theory is this: Mark Levin, Anne Coulter and other “conservatives” say that we should not challenge Obama on this, but fight on the issues instead. (Again, eligibility for office is apparently not an “issue.”) What if Obama wins? Since we “lost” on the issues under this scenario, could we bring it up then? OF COURSE NOT! It would just be sour grapes, and the question as to why the opponent didn't bring it up would apply to two elections.
And if we're still a recognizable country in 2016, I predict that Obama will run for a third term. Heck, if eligibility doesn't matter, it doesn't matter! There will be numerous distorted stories on the MSM about how several past presidents ran for third terms (TR is the only one I can think of, but somehow the facts won't matter), and the amendment will be called RACIST! Once the magic word is deployed, Republicans will fall all over themselves to say it's “not the hill to fight on” in 2016, and Obama will by then have packed the Supreme Court. Heck, if the court with a majority of Republican appointees could read the takings clause out of the Bill of Rights in Kelo, is this such a stretch? Maybe they will say the amendment limiting terms was invalid because it should have been passed in English and Spanish instead of just English.
Hell, I don't want any of these things to happen. And this does sound kooky, deliberately so.
But if you told me a few years ago we'd be where we are, I wouldn't have believed it.
I do sincerely hope this was nothing but foolishness. But you can bet that the left will continue to try to make the outrageous the norm.
