OK, I’ll phrase it a different way....your attempt at relativism is repugnant. You can quit your job, buy a home in another state, or leave the country altogether. You can vote, marry, and purchase firearms. You can even quit paying taxes although you may not like the consequences.

The man in that picture could do none of those things. He had no rights. He had no control. He obviously was subject to privations and abuse. His labors were hard, unrelenting, and often rewarded with the whip. On a bad day he might even see his children sold....and then never lay eyes on them again. So you have to pay some taxes. Boo frikkin hoo.

The two are so totally not analogous.

So which state can I move to where NOT one cent of my tax dollars is protected from getting funneled to an abortion clinic???? This man's children if he had any at least had some value. And what about the young on young violence reported nightly on the local news. See now I would like to think that this man's suffering was NOT for nothing. IT is not about paying tribute to the modern gods of government it is that year in and year out nothing seems to have been learned in what has come before us.

It is repugnant to me to observe the appearance of life being without value even after all these years after a horrific war that now get presented that 'slavery' was ended. Public unionized education is a repugnant unnecessary waste of minds and money. And we elect a cold hearted man who wants health care to hand out pills to old American grandmothers instead of procedures.

“The man in that picture could do none of those things. He had no rights. He had no control. “

And you list some rights, but not all the rights that we NO LONGER HAVE in this country.

We no longer have the right to NOT have our income taxed.
Look in the constitution. There is NOTHING in the original that ALLOWS the taxation of income. THAT is a right this country lost early on. All to support the socialist dream of the FED. WE pay TAXES to PAY for the FED to LOAN MONEY to OUR government. You call that FREEDOM???

And what about DeathCare? Do YOU think you have a right to spit on them and get health care you can afford? They are even DEMANDING that we be FORCED TO BUY WHAT THEY ARE SELLING!!! YOU call that Freedom??????????????? Even to the point of KILLING YOU BECAUSE THEY WANT YOU DEAD??????????????

When the jobs are gone, how are you going to pay those taxes? When your house value falls another 50%, what assets will you have? When they control your bank account and your 401K, what Freedom do you REALLY have????????

N O N E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And you should learn form history, or are you one of those endless naysayers who just can’t bear for people to wake up to the truth?

YOU are the deluded one. But then again, being a well paid slave does have it’s advantages, doesn’t it rock?

And the dead give away is your inability to reason and say nothing more than an insult, like a lib.

Government isn’t my ‘’God’’. Seems to me slavery in the real sense was about physical bondage of labor for profit.. Taxation as slavery? Metaphorically yes but we can vote real slaves can’t or couldn’t. I’ve been a liberal in my time and renounced that to become a conservative. I’ve gotten the feeling lately all our votes have been negated for some time.

so troops on both sides just followed tradition of rape, pillage and what not.

Read the post again, In the Yankees own words he was admitting that Lincoln invaded a sovereign nation. That was fact, at least to this one honest Yankee anyway.

WE pay TAXES to PAY for the FED to LOAN MONEY to OUR government.

The government should pay interest when they sell bonds. The advantage the government has, because they own the Fed, is that they currently get back more from the Fed than they pay in interest for the bonds the Fed owns.

They had been so infantilized and terrified by the institution of slavery that they didnt know where to go.

Perhaps in some cases but you must admit that many slaves were probably simply happy with their arrangement like many of their descendants are happy with their government arranged 'entitlements'.

Do you feeeeeeeeeel better now?

But of course you would pick the worst case and try to imply that that was the general situation. (BTW, how many white women do you think that man raped to get those scares?)

Ok, why did so many slaves stay on as sharecroppers on the massa’s land post-bellum? You can’t explain that as simply no place else to go. There was still an economic bond there admit it or not.

“... bondage of labor for profit..”

But that IS what our monetary system does.

It depends on the ever growing expansion of credit to create an amount of inflation. That inflation over time DESTROYES the value of the labor of those forced to hold FRN’s. Our labor is being stolen from us each and every day, month, year until we die. And then it is substantially of less value than when it was earned.

By your own definition, it is slavery.

And as for voting, it is WHO counts those votes, not the voting itself that matters. eh?

As bad as things are here if you think we’re really slaves here all I can tell you is you don’t know anything. Look around the world and throughout history to see what real slavery is.

No one is forced to hold FRNs. Not even dim people like you.

What do you think reparations is about?

Just pay some money and then they will go away?

Do you not know that being economic slaves ALLOWS MORE SLAVERY IN THE FUTURE INCLUDING THE KIND YOU THINK ONLY COUNTS?

During Roman times, The germanic tribes were being pushed into the west. They were starving. The Romans wouldn’t feed them until they gave their children as slaves. Then they feed them.

Do you really think the same “couldn’t happen here?”

sigh

When they are required to pay taxes, yes we are all forced to hold them.
