With your permission, I’ll add you to the Seaman Anoreth ping list. She emails me from far-off ports with all sorts of interesting observations, and I post the news on FR. Nothing’s happened lately, but they’re bound to get the old clunker moving eventually ... the cutter MELLON is ... my age!
That host guy is good, way better than you would think on a TV show. He has a heart.
I cannot thank the people who have given their all, their kids, their own blood to fight our wars.
Thank you all, I may not be worthy, but I respect the sacrifice. And I am humbled to be honored by the service of so many who have given so much.
Oh absolutely, please do. What an adventure she is on. Far away places, indeed.
Should be an interesting ride. Tell her we are best pals ;)
Tell her to post up if she sees any turtles out there in the ocean and to throw then some bacon. I have turtles, they love bacon.
Stay safe gal.
I cried when the Gulf War started because FrogDad was set up by an airport next to the Kuwait border and our son was in the advanced part of his training at Camp Pendleton.
When the war was over, our town had a parade to welcome them all home, including a bunch of the returnees in uniform marching to lead the parade. Never could figure that one out, reward them by having them march two miles down our boulevard.
Someone in the crowd must have known me, a reporter stuck a microphone in my face and said, “I hear you have someone marching out there?” Reporter was standing between me and the marchers, I’m afraid I wasn’t very polite. Then the moron asked me how I was feeling. I looked at him like the complete and total moron he was and said, “Very very proud” in a tone that told him what a moron he was. Didn’t get asked any more questions.
Pendleton eh?
I respect the Marines. I should have been so tough.
Hope your kin are safe now FrogMom, I really do. Sounds like you had to deal with morons in the media. I’m really sorry about that. I can only hope all yours are safe now.
All of mine are safe, thank you for your thoughts!
Our Marine went to Somalia after his time in the desert, that was super scary for us. He did three WestPac cruises including one where they were evacuating people when Mount Pinatubo blew up. He got to see Japan and the Philipines and Hawaii. Says he wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Well said, and absolutely true...

Just focus on the troops and leave the other nonsense out.
“Coming Home” was just too much tonight with the gracious Gold Star parents! When they showed the host the flag that had melted from taking on fire was the point of no return. Nobody cries alone in my home! I love you freepers!!!
It hurts to see a man cry becuase they usually don’t and when they do it’s touching. However, they do and they SHOULD.

I hold that the man who cannot cry, when appropriate, has become something else, for he has lost his humanity...
