Well, that’s to bad. But rules are rules and BYU has a lot of rules.

A rule is a rule. Kudo’s to the school for following through with the rule instead of giving him a pass b/c he is important to the team.
btw. I hope Kentucky gets BYU in the tourney.

Good for BYU for putting their principles ahead of expediency. That is practically extinct in college sports.

Condoms could have prevented this. Duh! Is this kid even Mormon?

How/why did he end up at BYU?
Oh well, at least this is acceptable in the NBA.
To: T Minus Four
He's probably there on a full scholarship and thinks he can get away with anything.

It sounds like a condom might have prevented the pregnancy, but not the violation of the celibacy rules.

at least this is acceptable in the NBA. you mean it's not mandatory?

Well, if every other student on campus is a virgin then you’d have a point. But I don’t think so. He’s not the only one breaking the rules, he’s just the one who got caught.

Doesn't matter. When they enroll, they agree to abide by the honor code. If they don't, they're out.
Back in the 1970's, the feminazis got the federalistas to force co-ed housing (same dorm room included) on all campuses accepting any students on any kind of government aid (just about everybody, now).
Only two universities in the entire country stood up to them and took them to court. BYU was one of them.
Hillsdale College in Michigan was the other. Hillsdale eventually took it a step further-- they set up their own student loan and alumni scholarship programs. They won't even accept government money in their tuition mix now so as to remove this as a blackmail tool henceforth and forever. BTW, they are still doing OK. Kids who graduate from Hillsdale tend to be the kind of kids who learn something useful and pay back their loans.

I understand honor codes. I’m just saying that he isn’t the only one violating it. I’m sure there are kids who are expelled for this every year. They just aren’t 6’10” and can hit a jumper.

It’s this type of garbage that had the PAC tell BYU to take a hike when they were begging last year to join the division. PAC invited Utah instead.

It is good to see some schools have standards. Most universities have zero standards an accept felons and rapists.

Garbage? The school is giving the kid a free education and he agreed to the terms. You sound like a lib or a dumb ball game fan who thinks that sports are important. It is a dumb game - get over it.
