Older article. Couldn't find it, or anything like it ever being posted on FR...
Anyway, I saw a Nova program on PBS last week about this subject. In that show, they talked about a class of chemicals that would not just selectively erase memories, but permanently erase them wholesale.
If you were targeted with such a weapon, you'd be returned to Day 1 of your infancy.
You'd still be an adult, of course, but you'd remember nothing about your life. You wouldn't even remember how to walk or talk or dress yourself or feed yourself. You'd have to start all over.
Imagine if a country that had done its research had the capability to hit an opposing military force with such a weapon. Or hit whole cities. Gives me the willies! Anyone heard about this?

An easier way to weaponize it is to give a skinhead a credit card, let him off at a gun shop and tell him, “Forget you ever saw me.”

I am pretty sure I was one of their first test subjects, but I just don’t remember.

Researchers working with mice have discovered that by removing a protein from the region of the brain responsible for recalling fear, they can permanently delete traumatic memories. Great! FReepers can finally be freed from all those Helen Thomas images.

I start every day like that anyway.
Luckily, I’m a fast learner.
