They don't. They need it to push their agenda.
My point is that gays have been active in conservative circles for a lot longer than most FReepers have been conservatives. They aren’t going to “go away” because anonymous posters on chat boards tell them to or call them names.
As for the specifics of CPAC this year LOTS of agendas got pushed there. “Political action” is largely about pushing agendas. I’m not even sure I can even say that I know what the gays there wanted. I know, for instance, that many attendees wanted Ron Paul to be president. Now there’s an agenda I’m opposed to.
No one is telling them to go away. They don’t need an organization in order to vote, whose only purpose is to push a homosexual agenda. That’s not conservative.
"see many libertarians have no problem with a crack house and whore house right next to a kid school or have a problem with a woman marrying her dog. itn all sounds good doesn;t it, keep Govt out of marriage, out of lives etc but when given questions like crack house next to a day care then most libertarians do not want to answer as they know it needs Govt to make a law to stop that and yet if they say no problem then they are classed as a nut , about marriage they are IMHO"
"answer this please wh don;t yuou libertarians go and join your own sites and make your own conventions, why do you run on the back of the R and then come to our conventions pretending to be conservatives but are socially liberal you want men to marry men, daughters to marry fathers, women to marry a dog then off you go but youre not conservative so why join our conventions?"
Used to be back in the day you had the leading citizens of a town exert moral pressure, then, if necessary, financial pressure or physical pressure to run out the weirdos. Nowadays you think you need government to do it for you, because you don't feel like doing it yourself, or even want to bother asking more influential members of your community to do it. That's fine. But don't pretend you're a conservative. You want government when it's convenient for you. That attitude is exactly what has grown government for the left.
That advocacy of government growth is your real position is made clearer by your comments indicating that you think wanting a government too small to intervene in the social lives of its citizens is the same thing as being "socially liberal." Of course, when the government is actually run by liberals, I bet you're all worked up about what happens then. Isn't it funny that these days, government is all too often shaming the wrong people, forcing acceptance of racist and sexist affirmative action policies and imposing its view of homosexual rights into the faces of people who believe otherwise? It has that power to do so after having been handed it by people like you. Again, it's fine that you whine about the now-bad government forcing gay or other impositions upon you. But don't pretend you're a conservative because you do so. You're a friend of government when it's waving the big stick for you.
And I might add that libertarians and Constitutionalists ought to attend any conference they damn well please without worrying about your pitiful whining and threats. People like you couldn't even muster the courage to stand up against the limp-wristed and drug-addled on your own, no, you had to pass laws to make the cops to do it for you.
