I know its a Big hype of nonsense.
I guess I’m officially an old fart, because I remember the Super Bowl when it WAS something special - like when Joe Namath guaranteed a Jets win.
After five or six years, the hype began to dominate and it’s only gotten worse and worse.
I also remember the Giants vs (Baltimore) Colts OT game for the NFL championship )pre-Super Bowl.
The Packers and the Cowboys championship game (ten below zero)
Johnny Unitas
Y A Tittle
Sonny Jurgenson
Bobby Layne
Bart Starr
I first got into satellite radio (XM) because of Bob Dylan’s “Theme Time - a great series.
Now, 90% of what I listen to is Old Time Radio.
Hope you can get hooked back up.
Time for Gunsmoke #5 -
Thanks -I am listening on my ipod now. They have an apps called” tune-in radio”. 10,000 internet radio stations for .99 cents. Its like dvr for radio. You can pause while you go to bathroom. Then come back and not miss anything. I listen to different christian radio stations. Or conservative radio in Ny or Irish radio. I remember as a kid I was in awe of ham radios. What a different era we live in today. LOL!!!
I expect most will be watching the Superbowl. Not me. I've been spending the day working on my music. (I've just formed my own blues group.) To me the Super Bowl means but one thing: spring training in two weeks!
p.s. Happy Centennial, Mr. Reagan!
A young “singer” named Christina Aguilera mangled the National Anthem for the Super Bowl. Not only did she “sing” it like a stupid maniac with all sorts of vocal contortions, but she also did not sing the lyric correctly.
She utterly failed in the most despicable way. I’m sure it will be on You Tube shortly, and then I’ll post it for you. I only heard it on the radio before we went to our neighbors’ with the television, but the radio version of her butchery was bad enough. She should catch hell for her pathetic performance.
Vision, I addressed the topic in today’s column: http://www.dakotavoice.com/2011/02/super-bowl-entertainment-showcases-degenerate-state-of-american-culture/#
Wow that is cool. You know I actually read your piece and didn’t realize it was from you. Was glad somebody put into words what we’re thinking.
Great article, very cutting edge.
Scott Factor posts my columns here linked from his site, although I actually write for Dakota Voice.
Thanks, Vision!
