Come on....taking a Sunday off (which he probably has a few meetings earlier in the day) is not a bad thing. Also most times he golfs is on weekends. I think he gets a lot of crap for stuff he does but not for things that really need discussed.

Those here in Denver, working in the wild bucking horses industry, have no such problems and will be hard at work...for years to come.
Anyone in Pittsburgh that still has a job should be glad-! The steelers are about the only success in the region-!

We have had non-stop heavy snowfall all day. The Super Bowl party will be an uplift to an otherwise dreary crowd.

This is a nationwide problem. I am not sure I will be able to catch a MARC commuter train into Washington tomorrow. I’ve ridden the line for over three years and EVERY Monday after the Super Bowl, trains are canceled or run with fewer cars, making the commute very difficult. This also happens after the NCAA final.
The Super Bowl should never be used as an excuse to get too drunk to work.
I can’t believe it took 24 posts for someone to say that. And in the steel industry even!
We have this great invention called "DVR" - why not make use of it so that the game can be watched at a more reasonable hour? Also, I would not ever want to classify myself as a "non-essential" person. Non-essential workers are disposable.
Being from New England, I've had my hometown team in the Super Bowl a number of times over the past 10 years, never an issue with showing up for work on time Monday morning. But there are some people out there with all kinds of excuses for not showing up for work.

I was a flight attendant with USAirways years ago and on Super Bowl Sunday in Pittsburgh when the Steelheads were playing, forget about getting a gate or service or anything from doze guys during the game, in other words, you were stuck on the plane or at the gate for hours with no explanation.
Serious problems with that company. Heard of a PIT or PHL based group of employees years ago with USAir that had a hotel room reserved. Every day, one guy could go and sleep his entire shift. They rotated so one guy didn’t work each day but got paid. Another group we heard of made breakfast each day so one guy was tied up cooking while the others tried to cover his shift. Then they took the time away from their jobs to eat while their food was still warm.
Hubby was a pilot with Piedmont Airlines and I was a flight attendant with them. Getting bought by them was a nightmare and we couldn’t leave soon enough. And if any of you has the misfortune to be waiting in PIT or PHL with a ticket on USAir today, wondering if you will get out at all today, remember what we had to endure at the time of the merger:
‘Swapping Southern Hospitality for Cool Northern Efficiency’.

The unemployment rate in Pittsburgh is 7.2%. The national average is 9%. Pittsburgh is among the better areas to be in this economy.

You’re not serious are you? His daily schedule has been posted here before. On top of everything else thats wrong with and about him, he is a lazy ass.
Maybe but he still can have weekends off if he can.
Take that up with Commanding General Lloyd Austin. That's his policy, not mine. But, I support it. These troops are working their tails off and living in somewhat austere conditions away from their families and loved ones. If they want to have Super Bowl parties in the middle of the night while it's on live, far be it for me to criticize. I'm invited to join the fun as well, but my team's not in it, so I'll sleep through it.
There will be another Super Bowl party at 8:00 p.m. local time tomorrow with a re-run of the game for those who don't want to participate during the witching hours.
This has been going on since 2001 when the first of these wars started.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Oh, and people here have too many real things to address to be worried about trivialities such as being considered "non-essential." Hey, my orders say "Essential" on them, but I'm considered "non-essential" as far as the Super Bowl policy is concerned.
Never had a problem. Reporters had their 1 - 2 - 3 deadlines, depending on what subject. All on time.
In the press/distribution(where I worked)/truck and mail delivery no problems. It's just time to do your job.
If anyone ever came in drunk, and it happened, they would call an extra in to take your place and sent home.
None of us wanted to get hurt with a drunk and the union was great on this.

But that involves common sense which is the first thing that seems to get sucked out when supervisors get their required lobotomy.
