That could be fun. Anything from any hall of famer?

Casey should do a Neil Young song. He could really make something like “lonesome Me” work.

Jacob should do a difficult Michael Jackson song. NOTTT, I repeat, NOT the overdone on Idol Man in the Mirror, though.

Pia, here is a way for you to get the audience from going for the fridge during your song: sing “don’t get me Wrong” by the pretenders!! If you put your heart into it, I will vote for you!! Other Pretenders songs might work too.

Lauren, you could be adorable singing “the tide is high” by blondie. I love that song and you could carry off that sexy confidence.

Paul, sing Tom Petty. Do Free Falling and put some bleeping regrets and sadness into your voice. No smile. It’s your only way to stay out of the bottom 3.

Scotty could also find something country in the Tom petty song list. There are some country crossovers in the H of F too...

Haley, do a Billie holiday song OTHER than Gd bless the Child. Do. Not. Growl. You could knock it put of the park.

Little Ricky, pick anything with emotion and sing to the camera smoothly without overdoing it. It’s your week to lose — either you or Paul are going home.

James has it made in the shade with pink lemonade. Pick a strong but not overplayed rock song and make it your own.

She’ll have to break out of the power ballard track to do justice to “River Deep, Mountain High” (I loved the version that Santana and Mercedes did on Glee, down to Tina Turner’s trademarked choreography)

I haven’t voted yet. I think Scotty may walk away with this. It’s to the point where they need Female AI and Male AI cuz the girls always get trounced by the tween girls who are voting for their future husbands. I wanted to marry George Harrison or Paul McCartney.

She belts too much, too long.

No ma'am. These songs are a minute fifty tops. She uses her head voice and her natural full voice in amazing ways during the majority of every song she sings. A singer who is belting too much will usually have problems with pitch accuracy, i.e. Whitney Houston in her twenties, due to ear implosion. Pia belts when it's appropriate but it's obvious that she has far more power in her voice than she's come close to using. She's a seasoned pro at what is usually a singer's baby's age.

As I said, her delivery is flawless.

” Lauren reminds me of Kelly Clarkson from season 1. She resembles her and her voice is similarly capable.”

And if she keeps delivering she just may wind up with the title.

Lauren has a sparkle in her eye. Pia can sing but she has no sparkle in her eye. She’s like a beauty pageant contestant who thinks she’s already won. Pia sings well but acts like a zombie.

Well, we will have to agree to disagree. I will give you that her voice is crazy mature and superior to all the other girls and men except for possibly Jacob. And that while she is belting, she is belting perfectly.

But I believe she has a serious boredom factor, caused by a lack of range of intensity in her delivery. That aint perfect. If she wants people to stay interested until the end of her ballad, she will need to rise and fall in her intensity, or raise and lower her “belt” factor. I would like to see her “power down” toward the ending of her song more than she does.

I’d like to see her be calm yet heartfelt. I’d like to see her plead, mourn, crow with joy, right into the camera/audience, as part of the meaning of the song. I’d like her to move me emotionally. I have dozed off on occasion or daydreamed during her songs. I am NOT alone.

You got me, for sure!

Watch out—Lythgoe might steal that idea.

I love the idea of Lauren doing a Blondie song.

For once I agree with you, Chunga. Pia’s voice has been carefully developed by expert teachers. All the work she has put in shows.

OTOH, Lauren is a natural who has probably had very little formal vocal training.

I like them both equally.

Too late. Pia already chose “River Deep, Mountain High”. Surprise, Celine Dion covered it. Bet that shocks you that she would choose a song covered by Dion. /s

We could start a drinking game. Take a shot every time she goes for the glory note. Wait, you can’t get drunk since you’re pregnant. Can’t have you eat a piece of candy each time, you’d gain 10 lbs in one night. hmmmm

No, you are not alone. Not by a long shot. Some performers I stop what I am doing, usually posting or typing and I watch their while performance, entranced. Some, I stop watching soon after they start singing, bored and go back to typing. For me, Pia is one of the later. Predictable in that she stands on one spot like an opera singer. She’s been called on it a lot lately so I think this week she will move around the stage.

I can’t take credit for the idea. I just found those videos so funny when trying to imagine the contestants singing them! I couldn’t post the link as it would give it away that it was an April’s Fools joke. :)

I’d kind of like to see James do Guns N Roses ‘Welcome To The Jungle’.

Yeah, Lauren would be darling doing Deborah Harry — in her own style.

Yeah, my doc OK’ed a few sips of wine once a week or so, but I actually have zero appetite for alcohol. And I don’t like candy... except for the “crack eggs,” Cadbury miniature chocolate Easter eggs that our family is sure contain addictive cocaine...

I do think, depending on your choice of beverage, that you could become intoxicated if you took a swig each time Pia hit a glory note - and these songs are only 90 seconds or so! (But if by chance by then you have not gotten your buzz on, take a swig each time Paulie smiles, and that oughta do it.)

I knew I was not alone. If I were watching a variety show and the real Celine came on to sing a song, I would definitely be thinking about the roast beef in the fridge or the laundry in the dryer, no matter how “brilliant” she is. And I’d rather see any other Vegas show than hers... Now, if Pia were my friend’s daughter, I’d be pinned to the chair to hear every note. But you don’t want to only be interesting to your mom’s friends.
