Campbell’s soup is too salty for me any way.

To each his own I guess. I prefer sea salt. I think I’ll drop Campbell’s a note thanking them for adding it.
No, breathe.. sea salt in soup is not worth getting angry about. Just choose something else or make your own.

Just add more salt. It is what I do. I have to have the iodine in the salt as I am hypo thyroid.

I guess I'll just have to make my own. You'd be better off - all of that regular salt hid the fact that Campbell's is crap.

Might be made with reconstituted potato flakes from china. Salt is salt.

Soup is so easy to make. Plus you make a big pot of it and have leftovers or freeze it. I have not bought a can of soup in ages.

I doubt that it is bad because of Sea Salt, most likely it is Halal,or muslim friendly. I do not buy Campbells products because they are sucking up to the islamic community. On the other hand Sea Salt is a far superior tasting salt that the left would like to ban.

That sounds like it was an interesting conversation. I keep urging people, family mostly, to tape record some of the oldtimers stories or they’ll be lost. They never do it.

I only use sea salt. me too! I found that freshwater salt just doesn't cut it.

So they are now going to force their idea of healthy on consumers? Do you know for certain that this was their rationale? Personally, I prefer sea salt to table salt; maybe folks like me are in the majority and this decision was aimed at satisfying their customers. Or, perhaps sea salt is cheaper for Campbell's to procure.
To: goseminoles
I’ll use the regular salt for things like salting the water when boiling pasta.
The sea salt I’ll use more sparingly, as a higher quality spice.
I don’t get how adding sea salt to Campbell’s soup is some kind of leftist salt assault.

But a can of soup is like 3 days allocation of salt! Its astounding. No kidding. A serving of a typical Campbell soup has a load of sodium, and if you read the fine print on the can, you learn that a "serving" is a couple of thimble-fulls of soup.

You know, I can understand if some of the people that get meals on wheels have diet restrictions but past a certain age, one of the few joys in life is food. If someone wants to personally remove all the joy from their own, fine. But leave others alone.

I think what your are missing from the Campbell's soup you tried was the MSG. Mono sodium glutamate, a flavor enhancer that made your taste buds think it tasted good. I noticed on a couple of types of C. soup that MSG appeared to be missing.

It’s not the type of salt; it’s the amount. They’ve made another change, which is to reduce the amount of salt, but tried to “cover” it by using sea salt.
This is not unlike how “new Coke” was introduced to mask the switch to high fructose corn syrup.
