Hi rabs....sounds like a wonderful trip! I’ve never traveled West, but have taken many long road trips south, alone. My only suggestion would be to consider weather and the distances between places where you can get gas, especially in the mountains or other areas where cell phone service is not available, leaving you totally dependent on strangers. Nothing worse than getting stuck and not being able to call for assistance. As I tell my sons, have fun, be safe!

LOL, I just saw that movie a couple weeks ago...you are probably right not to emulate them...memories are sweeter than real life.

HA! The storms seem to be stuck just west of me in the mountains. Having a very hard time making it over the urban corridor.

Thought of some others. Good flashlights. One should be a flood type. Changing a tire with a penlight stuck in your mouth by the side of the road is a pain. I like the head style with LEDs. Light weight.

Road flares are handy and double as fire starter - especially if you need to light a tire off.
