Peace On Earth?
December 24, 2010

I wouldn’t want to pick a fight with a sky full of angels, but I must admit that I’ve always wondered about the promise of peace the angelic host made to the shepherds in the fields outside Bethlehem. For the last 2,000 years, peace on our planet has been at best a rare commodity. Wars continue to ravage innocent lives, domestic violence is a growing calamity, divorce rates soar, churches split, and peace in our restless and wayward hearts seems to be an elusive dream.

Where is the promised peace? Actually, on reflection, we can see that Jesus brought all that is needed for peace in our world. He taught the principles of peace, calling for people to love their neighbors as they love themselves. And as He was leaving this planet, He promised, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you” (John 14:27). He told us to turn the other cheek, go the extra mile, forgive offenses, reject greed, tolerate each other’s weaknesses, live to serve and love one another as He has loved us.

It seems that in large part, peace is up to us. Paul verifies that in Romans 12:18, “As much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” This Christmas, let’s make peace our gift to the world in which we live as we reflect the Prince of Peace.

We know at times there will be strife;
On this we must agree—
When conflict drops into our lives,
We’ll solve it peacefully. —Fasick

When we experience peace with God,
we can share His peace with others.

Read: Luke 2:8-14

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. —John 14:27

Thank you for a timely and beautiful devotion today.

There is two or more takes on the phrase peace on earth to men of good will

or is it Peace on earth, good will toward men?

It is the translators that differ a bit.

The Peace of Christ Jesus is a Peace based on the absolute surety of God's sovereign Grace, GOD IS GOOD, HIS WORD IS SURE ,,,

THERE IS NO SHADOW OF TURNING IN HIM, HE CHANGES NOT, HE IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND TOMORROW.

LET US PRAISE HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, OMNIPRESENCE, OMNISCIENT, OMNIPOTENT, AND HIS GLORY AND PLAN OF SALVATION. The Hope of life Eternal with Him.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Worthy, Worthy, Worthy, is He. Alleluia!

Jesus Christ: Son of God and God the Son

“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35

Who was this baby? Who is Jesus Christ?

Think about it. Here’s a person who lived in a tiny little land two millenniums ago, and yet after 2,000 years, there is never one minute on this earth that millions are not studying what He said. Libraries could be filled with the volumes that have been written about the Lord Jesus. He never traveled far from His birthplace, yet His testimony has gone around the world.

He only had a handful of followers and a ministry of only three short years, yet 2000 years later, we are still saying, “Jesus, Your name is wonderful.”

To know Him is to love Him. To love Him is to trust Him.

Human speech is too limited to describe Him, the human mind too small to comprehend Him, and the human heart can never completely, totally absorb who Jesus Christ is. He is God, manifest in the flesh.

When I found the following picture two years ago,
I fell in love with it's sweet innocence.
I posted it, but said it needed a poem to go with it.

NicknamedBob wrote this brilliant poem,
To accompany the graphic,
And I thank him.

I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do:

Hello There!

Hello there, Christmas Present!
You rode with me last year!
It’s nice to see you’ve settled in,
I’ll bet you like it here!

They like you too, I see it,
Look how you’re dressed today!
I’m sure you’d be the prettiest,
Doll on my marvelous sleigh!

But I won’t take you away from here,
You’re right where you need to be,
Still, I feel really grateful,
For the present your mom gave me.

To see that you’re having a good time,
And growing up really fine,
Is quite the reward for this old man,
Sweet kids are a hobby of mine.

Now tell me what else I can do for you,
Something you’ll need next year,
Just climb right up into Santa’s lap,
And whisper some words in my ear.

I’ll understand what you are saying,
Though your mom may not get it, quite.
Your little whisper will be acted upon,
And you’ll both sleep with smiles in the night.

NicknamedBob . . . . . . . . December 21, 2008

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
