A Submission Problem

During a talk-show interview, a celebrity confessed that she spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours each year on her hair and its styling. She recognized that it had become an addiction and admitted that her problem was “submission to the hair.”

The word submission means “an act of yielding to the authority or control of another.” Because of her desire to look and feel beautiful, this celebrity was allowing her hair to be in control of her life.

This woman’s story could lead us to wonder about our own hearts’ desires and what we’re submitting to. Do we at times want something so badly that we submit to doing anything to get it? Are we submitting to admiration? Possessions? Self? Food? Money? Pleasure?

In his epistle to the Romans, Paul said, “to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves” (6:16). When our desires “war” within us (James 4:1), we are to submit ourselves to God as “slaves of God” (Rom. 6:22).

Humbling ourselves before the Lord (James 4:10) and asking Him to show us our heart will help us to recognize our own submission problems.

To follow and obey;
And give us strength to fight the urge

So sweet and lovely, Gail! I usually post that too and I believe Meg does. We can never get enough as that’s what Christmas is!! Thank you very much.

West Texas.

We do have a rocker effect of 70 degrees one day and perhaps 19 degrees at night ... if a cold front swoops down and occasionally we get snow ... maybe 6-8 inches.
When in ‘real estate’ I always told people when moving here from California, New Orleans, Canada, etc. ...if it snows during the night to get the children up to see it ...

IT will be mostly gone by 10:00 in the morning. Except for the shady places. There are few exceptions. Once about 10 years ago we had several days where it was about a foot of snow and the temps were -12 at night. During the Christmas week, FUN actually!

Hi Amy, Thank you for the sweet doggie graphic! Snow is still laying because its been too cold to melt. My driveway is okay. It was 0 when I got up this morning. It has made it up to 24 now and its 10 to 1:00! We are supposed to get into the 30's and 40's by tomorrow 'with rain'.

I'm not making much headway but I'm trying. My son and DIL want me to go see Addyson in her church play tonight and I'm trying to decide if I can sit there that long. I will decide in the next few hours.

I am glad I did make it to the grocery store yesterday evening but I nearly froze to death getting them from the car to the house and its very close!

Hope you all are doing okay and that you are accomplishing more than I am....LOL! See you later!
