This is an old 1911,not an A1.I do have a 1911A1 that dates to 1940.
Mr. Cummings was a second Lieutenant in the AEF and carried that old 1911 in the battle of the Argonne. He was in his late 80’s when he gave me the gun,he only asked that I take good care of it.

Great!,,,
The slide on mine has a 1913 date,,,

a little work on the feed-ramp,,,ain't sure,,,
Maybe some day I'll have it re-plated...

I like my USP,but I’d want my 1911 if I knew for certain that I would have to shoot to stay alive.
(But only if my MP5A3 was not available to me.)

I have a pristine WW2-issue M1911A1 Colt .45 and a Para-Ordnance P13.45. The Para-Ord is similar to the Colt except it has 6 extra shots — like a 9mm Browning HP but in .45 ACP. The Para-Ord is only 1/8-inch thicker in the grip and the controls are the same as the Colt. The aluminum frame Para-Ord with 13+1 weighs the same as the steel frame Colt with 7+1 of .45 ACP.
I love them both. In a gunfight, I really like the idea of six extra rounds per magazine. The only down side is new 13-round magazines won't fit my gun. Fortunately I bought four spares plus the one that came in the P-O frame kit.

Scared me to death as an unclean gun is just plain sacriligeous.
Ordinarily yes, except when getting ready for a match.
I was on a Army combat pistol team long ago. The weapons had to be stock 45s from the arms room, no modifications allowed. Weapons were stripped and inspected by range officers before each match.
When the season started we practiced by firing a couple hundred rounds a day and no cleaning. The more rounds we fired the tighter the weapons became, when it was time for competition it was as if they were custom target pistols.
They had to be tight. We fired consistently in the ten ring, the winning team was determined by counting the Xs.

Now you can keep that pistol thanks to the NRA.
Overall, candidates endorsed by the NRA Political Victory Fund won 85% of their House races, and 19 of 25 Senate races.

“Now you can keep that pistol thanks to the NRA.”
I see you are still stumping and propagandizing for the Not Really Americans. Your comment that the NRA allowed us to keep our pistols is a complete lie. In no way, shape, or form did the NRA prevent such a thing. Why do you lie for them so much? Do you really want me to repost the 1968 American Rifleman article again to embarrass your beloved NRA?

I think Ill just keep my old 1911,,, 1911 is just about perfect right out of the box. Got a Springfield with two barrels, factory shoots extremely well and I just keep it in. Was going to have a comp on the other one, but think I'll have a suppressor instead (we've got slightly different laws).
