Huh...I’ve never heard of most of them. I have my own set of cross-platform apps that does everything I need. I keep the name and URL’s of them in a text file, in case I ever have to reinstall the os, and can’t remember what all I had.

If you’re really keen on a strategy game:
It’s coming on a lot but they’ve just changed from SVN to GIT so I’m getting a bit behind on compiling the builds, but you can download recent builds from the forums.
If you ever played “UFO: Enemy Unknown” (XCOM I think it was called in the USA) you’ll recognize the gameplay immediately but this is a complete reworking of the original play.
Wow! those lucky Apple users must have most of this stuff pre-installed. Hardly any of the apps are for the Apple OS, after all. ;-)

In the summer we have outdoor movies so I have used Blender to make my pre-show dvds. Great program but darn it takes forever.
The dvd really impresses peeps though. They all want to know how I made the graphics.
