It said there had been numerous complaints in the past and the dog had been in the pound before, also, that Mr. Fry had the option of simply picking his dog up from the pound and dealing with the fine in court.

But no, he had to pull this ridiculous stunt. From the mention of his shotgun I’m assuming he was waving a loaded gun around while he was doing it.

It’s just possible this dog was terrorizing the neighborhood and he did nothing about it. If the dog had mauled a kid would we be waxing sentimental and singing “Old Dog Tray” here?

Dude...

Should we make same number of assumptions about your character that you make in your post?

I agree. They wanted to show the old guy who was in charge, that’s all. They didn’t say anything the dog did except to be off a leash a few times. When I was a kid my dog was always loose. The neighbors loved her. She gained a ton of weight because everybody loved her and fed her scraps, but still lived to be 18! Was a half beagle, half Bassett.

Anyway, why not try to adopt the dog out not kill it? The owner was in the wrong, not the dog.

The guy has some problems but why take it out on his dog? What the hell, really? The fact is the dog did not have to be put down while the guy was in jail. Being crotchety and even doing the stupid thing he did doesn’t mean authorities ought to kill his dog while the guy is locked up and can’t even attempt to make things right to avoid the dog dying.

Not every shelter operates this way. Some are no-kill. But in this case it’s just wrong if the guy’s in jail there is no way for him to even try to get the dog back before the time period is up.

And beat the crap out of and/or gun down the owner if the owner would attempt to save the dog from being shot up or defend his property.

Still remember the cop who shot the guy’s dog in the dog’s back yard because he was chasing a suspect through the neighborhood and blew the dog away because he thought the dog ‘charged’ him. Probably believed the guy was an intruder. Cop gets away with it.

Clearly, the Pound was not too concerned about finding the dogs owner.

The Pounds ought to do what it can to make sure the dog is returned to its rightful owner, not simply take the easy way out and kill the animal.

The Pound is supported by taxpayers and is there to help both the pet owner, the pet and the public.

Should the pound have tracked down Mr. Fry in stir and sent a counselor to discuss his future intentions?

They couldn't have called him?

As for him contacting the Pound, maybe he didn't think they would kill the dog before he got out.

Clearly, the guy was not thinking too straight.

Sad story regardless

Yes, it is. And I know Hydro, OK. Nice little town. And the people in OK are some of the finest in the world. I lived in Piedmont near Oklahoma City for 7 years. We loved the state. (I never talk sports, have no interest in it.)

You right, because we’ve heard so many stories about poodles savaging kids. Good grief, read the article.

“Mr. Fry seems like a first class jerk. Threatening to murder people because he couldn’t handle his own business? Guy’s a sociopath. Poor dog.”

You’re going to see a lot more of this sort of thing as people are pushed to the wall by forces they believe they can’t control. He may have been a real psychopath or someone who just couldn’t deal with the situation he was in.

They probably could have called him, but I doubt they were in a forgiving mood after he took a boltcutter to the place. He didn’t give them much motivation to go above and beyond the strict letter. Poor dog.

“But in this case it’s just wrong if the guy’s in jail there is no way for him to even try to get the dog back before the time period is up.”

Correct, but there is the even more egregious fact that the ADA had ordered the dog NOT be killed and some government trough feeder disobeyed the order.

“And while I did not actually use it, the term is spelled argumentum ad hominem.”

Well, then someone else is posting under your screen name, ‘cause the following appeared on post #4:
“Good thinking, keyboard warrior.”

However, you have “outed” my disability. Now all know that I am typo prone. You cad!

I now have to confess that I did type an “n” where I meant to type an “m”.

As for the “quality of life” lived by trough feeders in uniforms, killing pets for fun and profit, the reality is that my comments are all too accurate.

The problem is an ancient one, as Petronius said:
I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet every new situation with reorganizing, ...... and a wonderful way it is to create the illusion of efficiency while producing inefficiency and demoralization”.

Gaius Petronius died in AD 66.

PS For virtually all of its history, America got along well, and prospered to an extent previously unknown in the entire history of man - and so did without “animal control Persons”.

I forgot to correct another of your errors, specifically: “Most “trough feeders” would prefer to be on welfare than do that job.”

It would be rather more accurate had you written it:
“Most “trough feeders” would prefer to be on welfare than do ANY job.”

Do realize that many of the “trough feeders” have shown a life long pattern of violence against their neighbors, their teachers, indeed against any vulernable human. Therefore, your implication that such “trough feeders” would ‘have issues’ with ‘violence against animals’ (what animal control persons job description is, after all) fails to pass the Red Faced Test.

Have a nice Sunday.

I agree. The guy’s a real @$$hat. Let’s his dog run loose and then starts talking about shooting people.

They should have euthanized his wrinkled old butt too. I had a neighbor like that once. I told him if his dog ever tried to bite me I’d kill it. He told me he’d hunt me down. I told him that wasn’t necessary, I’d be coming for him next.

You don’t let your dog run loose and then threaten people for enforcing the law.
