It’s sad that such a bright woman has died. Perhaps she may have solved the riddle of some disease to our benefit.

If gas prices spike, expect to see a lot of these vehicles. Obviously, they are very dangerous for the occupants. One of the reasons that fatality rates has dropped over the years is the steady increase in both size and strength of the standard issue auto in this country, as well as the actual safety devices such as side air bags.

One option is to limit them to streets with speed limits of 35 mph or less, but that doesn’t solve the problem of such vehicles colliding with a truck, SUV, or even a standard sized sedan.

You have just described the present US law on NEVs (Neighborhood Electric Vehicles) - limited to roads posted a 35 mph or less..

The Chrysler GEM car is one - as previously mentioned, a glorified golf cart -

Both certainly have their attendant risks.

This electric "car" fell apart like a cheap aluminum beer can

Hey! AUTOCAR magazine actually rated the Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust as superior to the G Whiz. (1 out of 5 vs 0.5 out of 5)

Does that car come with an orange wig, red nose, and a set of big floppy shoes?

One model does. The other comes with a short, dumpy middle aged Shriner and his fez.

LOL! That plywood door looks a lot safer that the Indian G-Whiz. Nice door hinges.

The gas powered Fiesta is here now and it gets very good mileage. The direct injection diesel could if the diesel formulation gets changed. It kicks the Prius. If Ford did a diesel hybrid version it would get 80 mog. Add a plug in lithium pack and you are over 100 mpg.

Ford has some damn good technology.

Hey don’t pick on Shriners! I have no idea what they actually do but they do raise money for children’s hospitals.

There is a picture of a bunch of them in little cars. Hilarious.
