Were dueling with gooberment trough-feeders legalized, just think of the enormous demand for matched dueling pistols.

It might start another buying frenzy which would dwarf the gun buying frenzy Obama started.

Dueling could save the American economy!

;-)

Yea, like my rooster became aggressive after he witnessed what my dad did to some of his hens. It would take 2 people to gather the eggs, one to keep the rooster occupied by letting him chase you while the other hurriedly got the eggs.

Let’s say you’re hiking in a national park and you stumble into a beaver who bites you in an artery and you die. Would they hunt down the beaver?

I'm gonna leave that question alone. :)

When hiking, remember to bring along some of the necessities - and I'm not referring to the book.

I use to raise angora goats and they are awesome fighters, but its usually with another male....wonder if the goat had rabies...but if breeding season and there are females they can be dangerous...only got attacked once and he pasted me to the barn wall, I knew he was coming after me and was prepared to grab his horns to stop the momentum, but if we had been in the open and not the barn, he would have run over me easily...angora's are smaller than mountain goats...it was breeding season his first, and I had given him 3 does to breed, that was the reason for the attack...I went into the back room of the barn where he and his doe's were...

In the wild, they leave people alone, that is why I wonder if it had rabies or some females near by.... It is really unusual for a goat to kill a human....sorry for the family...

A ram is more dangerous than a billy. plus they are usually larger and more agressive..You need a strong pen to keep them in...

Goats don't usually come at you straight on, they will back up some when going to fight, and then raise up on their hind legs and run at each other, at the last split second their heads go down and they try to break the leg of the one they are fighting...you can hear the crack of the heads coming together....the hit is almost always low on the body...

My main breeder's horns were 45-47 inches apart( from tip to tip)...don't remember which but on one of the barns he had to turn his head sideways to get in the door. When breeding he was dangerous, the rest of the time just a little testy..You have to clip the hoofs every 4 months and I could do the doe and yearlings by myself, but it took me and hubby to take down the large bucks.

It kept you in great physical condition...

"... So wouldn’t a mountain goat just naturally butt a person if he had the chance or was cornered or it was rutting season?"

I've seen on a wildlife site that the American Mountain Goat range doesn't extend to my state, but I've got it on authority from a Bighorn Sheep hunter next door that they do live in the Ruby Mountains. I'm told that they're ornery and pesky and much larger than the barnyard variety.

The Bighorn Sheep (the state animal) can be vicious and almost like an African game animal, because they will try to put a beatdown on practically any predator if they get their temper up.

Point is that you don't want to get close to either of these species, and you'd have to be going way out of your way to do so in the first place.

Just so everyone knows what animal we're talking about here in this 'mountain goat' thread:

I driving my Jeep up a steep trail in the mountains a few weeks back and stopped to take a picture of the scenery below when I heard some rocks falling, looked up and there was a large herd of Desert Bighorns, including a big ram, about 10 feet above me. It is rutting season right now. This was on the Calif/Nev border.

And the article is unclear - did he bleed to death?

Sounds like it. Gored in the thigh, then to make sure he died, Jessica Baccus began cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Boardman...presumably to finish pumping the last of his blood out of his body.

I swear, journalists (and most of the public) seem to equate "first aid" with CPR.

FIRST, plug the leaks, THEN reinflate!

Probably not, unless it then proceeded to chew off your limbs to build a dam.

One time did I see a small herd on the road up from Wells to Angel Lake. Bighorns are more "common" in that area of the Ruby Mountains, but they are mentioned as living there on nearly every 'official' site about that area.
