IT WAS HOT on the roof. Above, the sky was fast-forward: zeppelin fleets of cloud alternating with ragged anarchic flags of black. Bright stars, mil- and comsats, meteors, junk. Moh Kohn crouched behind the parapet and scanned the band of trees half a klick beyond the campus perimeter. Glades down, the dark was a different shade of day. He held the gun loose, swung it smoothly, moved around to keep cool. The building's thermals gave him all the cover he could expect, enough to baffle glades or IR-eyes that far away.
"Gaia, it's hot," he muttered.
"Thirty-one Celsius," said the gun.
He liked hearing his gun. It gave him a wired feeling.Ken MacLeod, The Star Fraction.
Yep, and as usual, Bob the Nailer came out on top.
You did, “I,Sniper”. I thought it was a good read.
This appears to be part of Western civilization’s continuing development of superior military arms that Victor Davis Hanson writes about in “Carnage and Culture.”
American technology is a formidable force, isn’t it?
What would be cool is to team up this auto-aiming rifle with smart bullets called BLAMs.

It it DOES work, I want one...
For me, "sportsman" has nothing to do with it. I want meat, so hunting is just grocery shopping with a gun.

“You’ll shoot your eye out.”
Oh, I’m quite sure of that. It will join the wide array of crap sold to hunters that a) they don’t need, and b) doesn’t make them better hunters, much less c) makes them better shots.
For the amount of money someone would spend on this widget, they could gain much more by buying ammo and just practicing their shooting.
I’ve always been confounded at the hunters who claim that they need (among other things): a rifle that will group 0.5 MOA (or less), the latest cammo, GPS systems, 6.5 to 20X optics (or, back east, optics at all - with exceptions for those who have eyesight issues that make iron sights hard for them), muzzle brakes (been down this road myself, and they’re worse than useless), bipods, ATV’s that cost $7000, blah, blah, blah.
Forget the weapons system. I want that suburban.
I get your point, but, if you have the means to purchase a computerized firearm than I am sure you would also have the means to go to the store and buy meat
I’ll wait ‘till they come down in price like color TVs and VCRs. ;)
Girls get much hotter when they can shoot a gun like that.
