yeah it’s kind of shameful that they had to give away tix just to get a full crowd...it was said “oh it’s football country”...”not the best stadium to get to”...”it does sell out during the weekends”
But they were in a pennant race and drawing 12-15k often...Which is why it’s ironic that the Yankees who do sell out (as do the Sox) get the wild card while Rays get the
division!
They have released the post season schedule. The only way the world series ends on Oct 31 is if it is a sweep. Games 5 6 and 7 are all scheduled for early November.
Do you think the Yankees would "place" this season if they had 19 guys on the DL like the Red Sox did this season?
For such a beat-up team, the Red Sox (actually the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox playing at Fenway on many nights) managed to win 89 games this season. The Saturday night game (the 9pm rain makeup game from Friday) was made up of almost entirely PawSox and mediocre players like Eric Patterson, etc. Yet they STILL managed to beat The Best Team Money Can Buy, LOL.
And best of all, there was no Yankee AL East Division win celebration at Fenway tonight. Thank you, Red Sox! :o)
Yeah, I am SO happy that the Yankees didn't get to celebrate an AL East Division win in "our house" this afternoon! They can unchill that champagne now. ;-)
The Red Sox team we had, as of a few hours ago - after 19 Red Sox players went on the DL this season - is really a patched-together version of the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox and some recently-traded mediocre players. And they beat the Yankees TWICE with that patchwork team this weekend!
The Dodgers had a nice send-off for Joe Torre after today's game. Do you think the McCourts will stay on as owners, or will the team be up for sale?
LOL! :o)
I know, it's strange, isn't it? The Rays have been an exciting young team for a few years now, it seems odd to me that more people don't come out to support the team.
However, I've been to the Trop - it's the worst baseball venue I've ever seen, and it's in a lousy part of St. Petersburg - not Tampa. They've got some good restaurants there, and of course the rays touch tank (LOL), but it would really be nice if the Rays had a better ballpark, and in a better location.
I see you brought out the “best” in the Yankee fans. Keep up the good work!
How did the Manny thing work out?
Take care.
Any day a Boston sports team is kept out of the playoffs puts a BIG smile on my face. Hate the Yankees, as well...
Aint we sumthin??
Do the math.
Equal opportunity hater hey?
LOL. What a mercurial character he is. There is always drama: ups and downs, hot and cold. What a goof.
I thought it was cold the way the Dodgers let him go. Torre wouldn't play him the last few games, even though he was healthy.
I feel your pain. After all, I’m a Dodgers fan....:-(
Torre was actually boo-ed at yesterday’s game, as he should have been, imho. McCourt barely dared to show his face. I can only guess at the outcome of current divorce proceedings. The best outcome would be if team is awarded to Frank only AND he is ordered to sell.
I watched Pads vs. Jints games too and thoroughly enjoyed the ones where Jints got beaten. Padres had an uphill battle and just couldn’t get that last win.
Vin is on board for next year. I sure hope the Dodgers organization drastically improves over the winter. Win it for Scully, ya knuckleheads!!
:-)
