“Mitch Daniels is the perfect man for the political culture of Indiana. He ran what was regarded as “the most successful gubernatorial campaign of 2008”. He staunchly eshewed negative campaigning in the two successful campaigns for governor.

Mitch is a fiscal conservative but has no truck with bashing immigrants and homosexuals and other favorite scapegoats of Right Wing Authoritarians. He is not a hater.

Mitch turned down an invitation to give the key note address to the lastest CPAC convention. So Glenn Beck was second choice. One could not have come up with two men with more opposite world views about “social conservatism”.

Mitch would be a worthy standard bearer for the GOP in 2012. But the knuckle draggers who have hijacked the GOP will prevail.

Mitch is a TRUE Fiscal Conservative........as for social issues...who cares. This nation is on it’s way to bankruptcy.....Indiana would be if it had not been for Daniels conservative fiscal policies and restraint on spending. we need more fiscally conservative politicians. Bush was no fiscal conservative.

I will not vote for Lugar...even if it means giving a seat to the dems...I dislike his policies that much. Daniels is nothing like Lugar. Nothing.

That strategy has worked out real well in the last two election cycles. Fight for your candidate in the primary but vote for the better of the two candidates in the general. Nine times out of ten, that's going to be the Republican. Not voting or voting for the dem has given us 10% unemployment, balooning deficits, nationalized healthcare etc... Need I go on?

As Bill Cunningham has said, Republicans commit fiscal misdemeanors, Democrats commit fiscal felonies. Sometimes, you just have to choose the lesser of two evils and work harder to get the right guy/gal in next time. Ask yourself this question, was the Republican run away spending earlier this decade even close to what Obama has done in the last 18 months?

FR is a social conservative site, some of us clearly care. Why do you think that JR boycotted CPAC this year?

When a conservative wants to be a conservative leader and the first thing that he makes clear is that he only shares a few of our conservative issues with us, and is liberal on most of our concerns, then he has lost his chance to lead true conservatives.

Democrats that only share our economic ideas, are not leadership material for real conservatives.
