A person who swears to support and defend the Constitution of the United States (with their life, if need be) and means it is my brother or sister, and I will brook no insult aimed at them because of the behavior of satanic maniacs who hate everything these people stand for.
BTW, tell me why it’s a bad idea for someone who has sworn to support and defend the Constitution of the United States with their life to have a prayer chapel available to them. I would like to hear you elaborate.
What a weak comparison.
BTW, I wish this Salon author would meet with the NYC 911 families and tell them to their face that their angst over the Ground Zero mosque is nothing but “controversy ... whipped up out of nothing.”
IATZ!
but it it true..
Is what true?
is there really a mosque at the pentagon..I thought they just had to face mecca.
They will be overjoyed that their misinformaiton got you to jump.
Surprisingly, that is not yet the case. Though catsup is quite obviously a troll. I hit abuse when this was first posted.
Although reconstructed and rededicated after 9-11, there has always been a Chapel w/in the Pentagon Reservation.
Chapel program serves all. Depending on size/event Pentagon Auditorium often used, however, most activity/religious services are held in the Chapel (Divider 1E 423/438). No specific facility one could architecturally characterize as anything other than a place to worship.

Email direct form the Pentagon today. The format gets bunched up on FR, but it shows the daily schedule. The Auditorium is the one I mentioned earlier near the PAC.
http://www.militaryinfo.com/news_story.cfm?textnewsid=75 and http://www.episcopalchurch.org/79901_89904_ENG_HTM.htm
are both worth reading. Prior to THIS CHAPEL they conducted any services in conference rooms, etc. Otherwise there were only small “prayer rooms”. So the chapel you know of is described as the first chapel.
"This is the first large chapel at the Pentagon," Benson said. " It is the first time we've had a place large enough to conduct services, which will include Jewish, Christian and Islamic."
Not the first chapel, the first large chapel.
Believe what you want. I all but lived in the building during my time there. I got direct confirmation today via email from someone who has worked there off and on since the early 70's (and continuously since 1992). You can let a couple of throwaway lines in internet news stories be the foundation of your grand stand if you like.
The bottom line is that this story is nothing but leftist agitprop
like I said very early in this thread...before you decided it was more important to dig into minutiae.
There appears to be a difference here ~ small prayer room v. chapel ~ DOD probably has a book of architectural standards that sets out SIZES for both permanent, temporary and canvas structures.
Wonder if we could access that on the internet to resolve the issue.
BTW, the Pentagon arrived at the same solution i did for dealing with space where people died ~ we had two staff members in adjacent offices die in a short period of time. What I did was came up with a mechanized file room with large rolling cabinetry. (We handled lots of evidentiary heavy cases and had always needed this so it was an easy sell). We then turned their offices into that space.
EVERYBODY was very happy including the two guys who would have otherwise gotten those offices.
My first thought was "what chapel" ~ if that were near the traditional public areas I sure never saw it!
