Another Hard Day
Politicals are deaf to our growing anger today
As the brutal loss of income our patience flays
Lefties stealing freedoms quick as they can
And our history and honor becoming ban
Yet through it all I stand firm with naught a wail
For I am always supported by one who never fails
Ill rebuild what the political types try to render
And find Ill take strength in His eternal splendor
On a recent flight, I got ready to do some work. Spread out on my tray were my laptop computer, backup hard drive, iPod, and other gadgets that are part of being a 21st-century road warrior. As I worked, a young man seated beside me asked if he could make a comment. He told me how inspirational it was for him, a young man, to see someone my age so enthusiastically embracing modern technology. In spite of his intention to compliment me, I suddenly felt about 120 years old. What did he mean by someone my age? I wondered. After all, I was only 57.
Then I remembered Psalm 71, the psalm for folks my age and beyond. It reminds us of the value of a life well lived and of the worth of lessons learned: Lessons are not just for our benefit but also for us to pass along to the next generations. The psalmist wrote, When I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come (v.18).
So, maybe being someone my age isnt such a bad gig. It is the privilege of veteran Christ-followers to declare the strength and power of God to the younger generations. Thats how we can truly be inspirational to them.

I love the waterfall, beautiful. It looks so peaceful amid all the hurry of the day.
BE THANKFUL FOR (The Mess)
The mess to clean after a party because it means I
have been surrounded by friends.
The taxes I pay because it means that Im employed.
The clothes that fit a little too snug because it
means I have enough to eat.
My shadow who watches me work because it means I
am out in the sunshine.
A lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning
and gutters that need fixing because it means I have
a home.
All the complaining I hear about our government because
it means we have freedom of speech.
The space I find at the far end of the parking lot because
it means I am capable of walking.
My huge heating bill because it means I am warm.
The lady behind me in church who sings off key because
it means that I can hear.
The piles of laundry and ironing because it means I have
clothes to wear.
Weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because
it means I have been productive.
The alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because
it means that Im alive.
Getting too much email bogs me down but at least I know I
have friends who are thinking of me.
