“Your assertion, based on the complaints of a few of the 1.7 million purchasers of the iPhone, is baseless. In my opinion it’s FUD.”
FUD? Wow no propaganda here folks, move right along.
LOL -— Maybe the Sex Pootle.
Remember too that in these first weeks, you can return your iPhone for a full refund if you are not happy. A class action lawsuit is just stupid at this point (well, not for the attorneys).
I'm not even sure that it's smart for the attorneys; it would seem that you could get debarred by proving in court that you are a shyster - and suing someone for inadequate performance of a product at a time when you can get a full, no questions asked refund sounds like you have crossed that line.I'm not sure even John Edwards could get away with that one!
Now if it was so clearly defective that nobody wanted to keep it, you might at least keep out of trouble, I suppose - but you yourself testify that that just isn't the case.
“It’s quite a trick to make 100% profit on anything; that implies that you are selling a product you are getting for free. And paying nothing for plant, equipment, or employee salaries. “
Well if you pay cheap chinese engineers to do testing, near slave labor to manufacture, cheap parts you can keep the costs down. So if you pay $50 to have it made and sell it for $700 you do make a nice profit.
“But is he a VILE, GD EVIL LIAR who has sinned against Apple? ;)”
Nope, that moniker is reserved for you Puget.
“Just because the customer service people are giving a line out about the iphone 4 doesnt mean its not a fantastic phone.”
So you’re ok with customer service of any company misleading their customers and hiding issues?
Problem you have with returning the phone is that you’re still locked into an exceedingly expensive 2-year wireless commitment.
The gadget acts as the lure for the real racket.
Interestingly, if they had just covered that antenna with a thin sheet of plastic this problem would never exist. As such, because your hands touch the bare metal of the antenna, it interacts with the electrical charge from your body transmitted through the skin of your hands and causes the reception quality to drop dramatically.

. . . but not 100% of the $700.And even that profit applies only after the cost of the development of the phone has been defrayed - and if you think that cost is excessive you have the same recourse I do - that of not buying the phone. Which, at $700 plus ATT contract, I have no intention of doing.
But that's just you and me; we don't get to tell Swordmaker he can't.
All of which is beside the fundamental point that Apple's critics used to gloat that AAPL was going out of business - and now they're complaining that AAPL is not going out of business.
May I ask one simple question of you sir. Do you own ANY apple device, Iphone, Mac, Ipod, any? If not, why dear Lord do you constantly crash in on Apple posts and bash anything Apple. If we pay for our Apple items, use them, and enjoy them, What the hell is it to you. GO AWAY!
Apple fans have always been extremely critical of Apple products, more than any other. They expect a lot from Apple and feel let down when things aren't perfect -- even if they're still better than you'd get from any other manufacturer.
For example, some Cubes had cracks in the case. These were very small hairline, surface-only cracks that had no effect on the structural integrity of the case. Nobody would have noticed them on the plastic of a Dell, but they were on the clear case of an Apple, and they caused an uproar. Now that Apple has a bigger fanbase, and more media coverage, the uproar is a lot louder.
I think the parts for the low-end iPhone were around $180. Of course that doesn't count corporate overhead, OS development, Apple Store upkeep and employees, patent licensing fees, or hundreds of millions of dollars spent to purchase the two chip design companies that turned out the A4 processor.
WVKayaker, do you really think that graphic is appropriate for a family friendly environment?
Why do people like you constantly crash windows threads? And yes I own apple products.
Was that supposed to be sarcasm?
If not, I think you took a wrong turn somewhere on the interwebs. Perhaps you'd be happier at DU?
I would have thought that everyone would know by now not to rush out and buy new technology until the bugs are exposed.
But I guess it’s the dummies who do rush out that take the hit for those of us with common sense.
I wouldn’t expect the applea zealots to admit there’s a problem. But denying this is an issue is just denying reality. For those up to speed in the gaming world it’s like when Microsoft fans were denying the xbox 360 had an issue that causes the system to freeze when it first launched. It took a while but Microsoft eventually extended the warranty to 3 years on the sucker.
That was pretty funny...and true!
