It’s the alternative server IP address that Jim and John recommended on the freerepublic2 yahoo site when everything was seriously crashed. Maybe now that you are able to ping me the secondary server is working now. I dunno. It gave me a way to get to FR while everything was crashed or slooooooow.

The FR being down a couple of days made me realize just how much I appreciate it and depend upon it. I will keep that in mind during the next pledge drive.

Ocassionally, I can only get here by going through the google cache. Simply go to google, and type: http://www.freerepublic.com Then, on the search results page, click on the cache version -- you'll get a cache of and earlier "Latest Articles." Click on any message thread and it'll download.

Just an FYI...I'm getting lots of these error messages today after posting:

Windows Update has a revision to MS Network 3.5, which means a MBR Kit malware has been causing problems, that the update fixes.

Yup very slow the last few days and often I can’t even get in. This is the first I have been able to get here all day.
