Come to think of it, I think you’ve just inspired me to a new tagline. :)
What does that mean? It was Nebraska and Missouri that started it all with their interest in going to the Big 10 talk. That's why the Big 12 issued Neb and Mizz an ultimatum to make up their minds to stay or leave
This is the most most important issue and Obama must address it ASAP!
If this does happen (which I suspect it will now), it is bad for fans. I will miss the NU/OU game, and it will leave ISU and the Kansas teams out in the cold.
I hope the all of these ex-Big 12 team are ready to travel. The days of NU going 150 miles or so to ISU, K State or Kansas are OVER!
NEBRASKA AND MISSOURI STARTED THE DEMISE OF THE BIG 12 WITH THEIR TALK OF GOING TO THE BIG 10.
Good God almighty, LOL~
For example, OU would play UCLA every four years. Once at our place and once at theirs. Same for every other "Pacific" division team.
So travel will still be in the "old" Big XII south, plus one trip to Arizona (either AZ or ASU) for a division game - travel to one, and the other will visit.
Throw in a trip to the left coast for one of two inter-division games, and host another "Pacific" division team for the other. (Or maybe it'll be an "East" division and a "West" division.) Three OOC games makes 12, then a conference championship between the divisional champs.
At least that's what folks are talking about.
The times they are a-changin', and as always, it's all about money. That's the part that doesn't change.
Oh yeah... Colorado’s in there too, hypothetically at this point. Not a Big XII south team but the travel’s about the same, at least from where we are.
I would like to see a “Premier League”, like in soccer.
Have the top 14 teams, all play each other.
Then the top four teams enter the playoffs to determine the National Champion.
At the end of the season the bottom three teams drop out for next season, and the three best teams from outside join for the next season.
Imagine, every week 7 games between powerhouse programs. How much would the networks pony up for the broadcasting rights?
We really missed out by not having a +1 playoff at the end of the season. Everyone knows the BCS sucks, but the worst part of it is not having all the really good bowl games on the tube on New Year’s Day. Having them all staggered out is just anticlimactic.
I’d like to see that in the NFL, relegate the losers to the B league, they gotta work their way back.
The Lions would be in the C League.
So nothing will change if they move. They couldn't compete in the Big 12, either.
Actually if Mizzou and Nebraska both go to the Big 10, the name should be changed to the Big 13 since with the addition of Penn State years ago, the Big 10 has had 11 teams in the conference.
Absolutely correct. The Big 13?...Now if I was superstitious
I agree on the sadness of this. I liked it better when it was the Big 8. That was a conference!
