The few liberals I know were mistreated as children, and hypocrisy and projection are ingrained defense mechanisms for them. They’re prone to extremely self-centric behavior. It’s easy to let government become your God when “Me” and “Now” are the most important things to you.

What is known as “situational ethics” or moral relativism” is the only way they can cope. They cannot deny they liked Bush’s tax rebate or Reagan’s military pay increase, but they still put those presidents down.

Their liberal ideology always trumps absolute truth for them when it suits them. All I can do is pray sometimes.

VERY WELL PUT.

THX.

I’ve had that come up before myself. I’m willing to accept them spouting off about Sarah Palin when they show me some evidence of her doing or saying something that can top “57 states,” “my Muslim faith,” or “stand up, Charlie!” Hasn’t happened yet.

INDEED TO THE MAX.

VERY WELL PUT.

When friends cease being friends over something religious or political, it’s usually one friend who continues to push the issue when the other would rather let it go and get along.

Usually, but not always. I've lost friends and even some family members because I'm a conservative, something considered unforgivable when you're a black man. I never 'pushed' anything. I just refused to have my views dictated to me as if I were an intellectual slave and questioned the qualifications of one B. Hussein Obama.

run your mouth off about politics at those that are apolitical and see how long they stick around.

There’s a fine line between having beliefs and being a jackass.

Sarah Palin wrote or at least signed a letter to me after my parents wrote to her with my picture from the newspaper at the TP. It’s a nice keepsake from Wasilla. She has a beautiful signature.

That is an insipid reply to the most thoughtful response on this thread. You need some serious growing up if you not only can’t recognize reality but insult those who proffer it to you in the kindest of terms.

I wouldn't say I am emotionally invested in Palin and for the most part I really keep my thoughts to myself, but when I am talking to liberal members of my family I can only hold my tongue for so long. So, it seems these days that if I don't agree with their point of view or if I send them something to educate them, they get pissy. So, no big deal.

Are you too emotionally invested in her?

That's a good question to ask. I think it's good to defend conservatism in general, but not to put too many eggs in any one person's basket. I do like Mrs. Palin, but I just don't get tingles up my leg about anyone any more.

My SIL likes to play this trick at work—She goes into work and tells her Obama loving coworkers, “Did you hear that stupid thing that Sarah Palin said?” Then she recites the stupid thing. She then says, “Oh wait a minute! Nevermind, that was Barack Obama!”

LOVE IT.

Sure, but my friends that are apolitical know nothing about fiscal policy. Otherwise they are prolife and promilitary.

PRAISE GOD FOR YOUR ALERTNESS, SANITY AND INTELLIGENCE.

GOD’S BEST TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

And may God give you many more richly rewarding friends who are worth it.

If someone else gets the nomination I will go all out full steam in support of them.

But at this moment I think Sarah is the absolute best we have. As they say in sports. Our bench is not that deep.

I can see where ohio is coming from and agree with him totally. Most of the idiots who voice strong anti Palin comments cannot give you one valid reason for this feeling. If they are at least a little bit informed about her record and can hold a reasoned discussion I accept their feelings with no animosity.

Most of the time though, it's for some MSM repeated mantra

and I'm all done suffering fools!

It is idiots like this who are resposible for the socialist mulatto who is presently defiling our White House and the office of the Presidency. I don't have the time in my life to devote to people who are close and have some political knowledge and common sense as it is.

Wow, ya boy, - who are you? They sure were when compared to the competition. Or maybe, one is not a true conservative unless they are just like you. Or maybe you are just so smart, you’re a lib. Moron.

I haven’t lost friends over Palin, but my youngest sister refuses to speak to me or even have lunch with me .. because I’m a ... REPUBLICAN! and she’s a stupid liberal.

I’ve had many people attack me over Governor Palin here at FreeRepublic, much less in real life, as it were. Some drank the liberal media Kool-aid about her being an idiot, in it for the money, a quitter, etc., etc... Many call her unelectable, but won’t name another conservative or Republican that has a chance against Mr. Obama in 2012. If it’s Governors Romney, Huckabee or Pawlenty, we might as well stay home that November.

I agree with your take.
