as to Crocs ... hm.
i’m a former dancer and high heel wearer.
i could run in 4 inch heels - no problem.
later was the problem.
i now suffer from plantar faciatis (sp?!) and two dislocated toes (1 on each foot). got fitted for orthodics and hated the few shoes i could wear using the things. then i found Crocs sandals. oh for pity sake what a dream! and not ugly and not a flip flop. incredible comfort (no need for orthodics). i forgot how to post pictures but here’s a link to the Crocs Cleo.
http://www.crocs.com/crocs-cleo/10043,default,pd.html?cid=060&cgid=women-footwear-sandals
i must say too that i’m menopausal and my little ‘trips to the tropics’ also have an effect on my feet so sandals are welcome!
at least i don’t wear flip flops and scuff my way through life. that drives me NUTS when i see/hear certain persuasions of women do that. ranks right up there with talking on the cell phone while bombing Russia in the bathroom. sick.

I've never had a problem with it, as long as the sandal fits well. If the front strap is too small I'll slide out also, but if they "nest" the foot fairly well they don't move on my foot. I also wear wedges instead of flats, and that way gravity helps too.

For instance look at this one. This is a great shoe.

If they just have a couple of small bands in front, or lots of strappy stuff I find they move and pinch.

David Tate makes a great sandal. He used to make one called "Band" that I bought six pairs of. It was like walking on a cloud. Unfortunately he discontinued it.

Ladies like to show off their pedicures, I know I do, but I also have lots of nice pairs of sandals....black, brown, pink....I have a great new pair of jeweled gold gladiator sandals and I’ll be darned if I don’t get to show off my beautiful pedicure in my new gold sandals. Cute flip flops can really off-set an outfit.

Flip flops have been around at the beach forever, but I’d say in the last 5 years they’ve really taken off and became popular with teens. The whole “beach look” with the American Eagle or Holister T-shirts and shorts are “in” with the teen crowd. I see girls in HS everyday and I think every girl has every color flip flop. When I was a kid flip flops were uncomfortable but now you get two pairs for $5.00 at the mall (at old navy) and they’re comfy. Of course I’ve also seen girls in $50 flip flops and I just say “why?”Most girls still know when to wear nice shoes, but many don’t, and I guess they’re parents don’t tell them. I’ve seen flip flops At church, but not on my kids.

Well, it was never my intention to drag cooties into the hideout, but sometimes it just happens.

What do you use to scrap the cow patties off your shoes?

I agree. Take care of your feet if you’re going to wear any type of sandals!

Flip flops are more comfortable than pantyhose and heels. Personally, I wear tennis shoes everywhere and wear flip flops when I can’t find my crocs. lol

My wife has 10 pairs of flip flops in different colors. It’s all she wears. They cost $10 per pair.

I keep my mouth shut.

Hi,
I said something in this thread about my kids not wearing flip flops at church, But I agree with you that a nice pair of Teva’s could work at church. Didn’t want you to think I was referring to you!

I remember that photo (thanks for posting) of president Bush posing with the women’s lacrosse team.
The mother of one of the young ladies photographed wearing flip flops in the presidential photograph was horrified. She said she was initial proud and excited that her daughter and team mates were photographed with the president. She waited eagerly to see the picture. As she first studied the photo with interest, her bright smile froze in horror as she glimpsed her daughters footwear. “Why?” she whispered in disbelief, weeks after her initial shock of seeing the photo - she was still so...so..horrified....

I second that and amend to add; greasy hair pulled back tight to avoid the task of styling.

Hey! That’s what I wear when I’m too lazy to curl my hair, paste on the makeup, put on my designer clothes and strappy whoreheels!!!

Once you conquer high heels, flip flops are kid stuff.

When you run in high heels, you run on your toes. Try that sometime.

Honestly, ANYTHING is better than watching young men (mostly black) wandering around holding their pants up by the fly because if they let go, it all falls down...the pants are so big. Disgusting—like they’re fondling themselves all day long in public.<p?

Flip-flops are OK by comparison...I hate to go out in public when boys and men have to hold their privates parts in full display.

My pet peeve is guys who wear sandals with white socks. What’s with that?”

Saw a really great looking guy at the golf course last week until I got down to his feet. Shorts and golf shirt, not too much tummy, great legs and then his dress shoes with white socks. He needs to stick a pair of flip-flops or sandals in his car!

You have to remember that in a lot of businesses, women are pretty much required to dress in a somewhat fashionable way—okay, not hyperchic like Miranda Priestly in “The Devil Wears Prada,” but in decent Brooks Brothers suits, shoes with a two- or three-inch heel, a little bit of jewelry or some quiet status symbol. This conveys that you are successful or that the company is successful and is paying you enough to buy this stuff, even if none of those things is true. Some of us have had to wear this uniform for work, and our feet HURT.

Thanks for that link. Those crocs are still ugly but they look really comfortable and really useful. I could see wearing them all day long, for working at home or doing errands or even walking the dogs.

One thing I like about crocs: I can take the dogs for a walk in muddy conditions and not have to worry about my shoes getting wet and icky. I just plunge right into the mud, streams, whatever, then can climb over rocks and go right on running. But I will only wear the normal type of crocs to go hiking, rather than in public, because the dogs aren’t really all that critical about my fashion choices. ;-)

You never wear those shoes in the house to begin with.
There are outside shoes, and inside shoes.

Or, would you like to face the misses having walked in without checking one day?

I love flip flops/thongs. In SoCal you can wear them for half the year, and there are a million different kinds, all designers, all materials, colors. They are super comfortable, and they do show off your pedicures.

And you had BETTER get lots of pedicures and care for your feet nightly too, if you are showing them all day. SOME people's feet are not fit for thongs.
