In some southern states during the 1940s her songs were routinely edited out of those big technicolor MGM movie musicalsI grew up in Tenn & Ala. and Lena Horn was one of my favorite singers/movie star at the time. I knew nothing about discrimination because blacks were everywhere around me and part of my life. Maybe I was sheltered.
