although she does allow me to bring home 'strays' that need love on occassion...happy shootin doc...
While Daley's bitching about people carrying handguns ... Rick Perry shot a coyote with a laser-sighted pistol. Haha.

Let's get back in touch in a year so you can tell me about ALL of the guns you purchased in the past year. :-)
Do you recommend the “night-sights”? The one I’ve held had the flourescent yellow three-dot night-sights ... not sure what the standard-issue sights look like.
SnakeDoc
That’s pretty well what I’ve heard. Reviews of most gun brands are mixed ... but HK and Sig Sauer seem to have unanimous positive reviews. Anything worth doing is worth doing right ... I figure if I’m gonna spend $500 on a gun, I might as well spend $800 and get the best quality out there.

Not really, only because I'm of the opinion that if you can't really see well enough to see the sights, perhaps you shouldn't take the shot. I'm just not a low light commando. This isn't to say I wouldn't mind them on the gun I just don't think it's worth the money.
If this is a nightstand gun and not a carry weapon, a laser or a strobe light makes sense. The sights that come with the gun will glow a little, just not like the Trijicon's or whatever brand.
Don't mention it.
I sincerely hope you are never required to use it in anger...not because it's not enough gun, but because some people have trouble living with it.
Agreed. I don’t think my conscience would get me — you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do — but handguns are like insurance ... you have it so that you hopefully won’t have to use it.
In a concealed carry situation, the presence of the gun is usually enough to stop someone in their tracks and send them scurrying. God help anyone that breaks into my home though ... they won’t get the chance to scurry.
I’m think laser-sight for fathers’ day.

Thanks for the update, Snake.
Does that include his bodyguards? What an inconceivable asshat.
Sir, you are out of line. Several years back, AP published an article concerning the Austrian military and Glocks. Specifically mentioned in the article was that Austria was forced to replace their Glock 17’s due to the polymer becoming brittle. I’m not going to do a search for you on the matter. The article was discussed on many gun boards and all I am doing is relaying the info from that article.
I don’t care if you love Glocks or whatever but don’t you dare call me a liar.
I think you made a good choice.
If you are going to carry it, put night sights on it. The sights that come with the gun will only glow for a period of time after they were exposed to light. They’re like an old glow-in-the-dark watch dial.
I don’t agree with the statement that if you’re having trouble seeing the sights, you shouldn’t take the shot. I can not imagine a circumstance in which a shooter would say, “Boy, I’m glad I couldn’t see my sights.”
Unfortunately, Crimson Trace does not offer a laser for that pistol. LaserMax doesn’t sell one, either. I’m not a fan of LaserMax. They’re expensive, they can’t be adjusted, and they require a separate operation to activate the laser. The P-30 is selling very well and one model covers two calibers. Since the pistol has a removable backstrap, there is a place to mount the Crimson Trace system and hopefully they will decide to make one.
Frame mounted lasers are nice, but the pistol won’t fit in a holster with the laser mounted. Your choice is light and relatively thin, making it a nice carry gun, if a little on the large side. It also has ambidextrous controls. Speaking from the perspective of someone who broke his collarbone on the strong side last year, ambidextrous operation is a very good thing. You never know when you might need it.
May I suggest that you take a feel and shoot of the Taurus OSS DS ... the weapon drops back into sight picture very nicely after each shot, is a .45 ACP and holds 12 in the mag and one in the chamber, with a ‘hammer drop’/decocking safety system which allows safe carry. It comes with two mags. I’ve fed every kind of .45 ACP round through it that I can find and it eats them all flawlessly. The rail on the bottom of the frame allows for a laser in home defene mode. [I carry a CZ 82 with three mags, two mags loaded with Hornady hollow points and one with Makarov extra hot rounds. The 9x18 is hotter than a .380 and the CZ is absolutely reliable.]
Well, I am calling you a liar and I notice that you aren’t putting up any defense.
You haven’t posted the story of the Austrian army replacing their Glocks because polymer guns don’t hold up to sunlight, and you haven’t explained why they would replace them with more Glocks, or why Austria would continue to use the polymer rich Steyr Aug, or why no one else is having trouble with polymers.
Are you going to tell SnakeDoctor how you would not carry the polymer pistol he is purchasing?
allrighty.....
Have fun with your new pistol.....practice its use.
May you never have to put it to it’s intended purpose!

I figure, if polymer is OK with Navy Seals and US Special Forces — its OK with me. They’re in the sun a hell of a lot more than I am. Aren’t many military-grade weapons — including some of the more popular automatic models (M16, MP5, etc.) made of polymer?
