Ask for a link where the tea party wants to abolish the government. And ask about the 10th amendment to the constituion. Just ask them what it means.

I would come back with it's a shame our FEDERAL government has long ago spent their savings. If we didn't allow the politicians to take that money from them to begin with those sytems wouldnt' be going bankrupt. Ask them how they plan to fix those systems so that they remain for our grandchildren. Or are our grandkids just goign to pay to take care of us and get screwed when it's their turn to collect.

I had a little fun with a lib co-worker today. He came over to twit me about the Tea Party downtown - "you gonna take your gun down there?" Very funny. So I sighed heavily and said "No, I know I have to pay taxes. We're all gonna have to dig deep to pay for 0bama's war."

The color his face turned was sort of purplish. He walked away muttering. I got a high five from another lib for that one.

Pitar, you are so correct. Tonight, they try me and disgust me more than most. Since we all grew up together, I do consider them fiends and for the most-part there is respectful dialog. The only problem is, I respect nothing they have to say.

My son tries to defend his positions but gets clobbered simply because he’s not quick witted in debates.

Sun Tzu would tell you (your son), to avoid playing to his enemy's strengths. In other words, don't engage them in a forum where one needs to be quick-witted. An on-line chatroom, or a blog is a terrible place to engage in a debate, because so many of them "pile on." Even if your son understands the arguments, and has facts on his side, it's useless if he can't have a forum in which to make a rebuttal.

I tell him that. He gets in debates at school. And since he gets frustrated and can’t make his point they all pile on...they do it just to have fun watching him get spun up. I know their type...I’m one of them. I am always getting people spun up just to see their reaction. So I know exactly what my son needs to do to diffuse it and not feed them, but he wants to be like me in debates so it’s easier said then done for him.

• Social Security: bankrupt by any objective measure.
• DoD acquisitions: the people who buy $400 hammers.
• US Postal Service: raising rates and cutting Saturday service. (maybe)
• Amtrack: all the cost of air travel with none of the convenience.
• Medicare/Medicaid: apparently so full of fraud, waste, and abuse there's 500 billion to be saved there.
• Interstate roads: how are those fuel taxes? Driven over any good potholes lately?
• 16,000 pages of tax code: ready for "Turbo-Doctor" and "H & R Dentist? Ready to need a lawyer and an accountant to figure out what your healthcare options and entitlements are?
