Some of those links on that site take you to the very bowels of Hell.
Ya shoulda warned me....:(
What we do not understand, we distrust.
What we distrust, we fear.
What we fear, we hate.
What we hate, we destroy.
“Gator. It’s what’s fer dinner.”
Nope.
Presas.
[Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Presas “and their mixes”....whatever the hell ~that~ scatter-shot-without-a-DNA-test distinction is supposed to mean]
He’s not a yapper, more like a squealer when he sees another dog. He wants to play and roughhouse, and he LOVES ‘large women’. At 9 lbs of white and black fluff almost all females are bigger than him, but he’s an ambitious boy! He used to annoy a 100lb+ chocolate lab a friend owned. It was funny to watch- the look on her face was ‘what? is this??’ or ‘oh, no, not this pest again!”
I’m seriously considering getting a baby sling to carry him in, he loves being held like that. Don’t know how good it would be for his back tho.
Those two have always been great friends, even when she was tiny and he had just come from the pound...
mouth shut? I’m just typing... you hear voices? Now I know you’re a kook.
Pitbulls are great dogs.
I’m trying to think...in all my travels and meeting hundreds of people in many states and walks of life, have I ever even HEARD of anyone named LaToya (or Demitrious, Lakwisha or Orangejello) ever having anything that could be sued out of them? No, I don’t think I have.
It’s almost like there’s a correlation between made up, odd names and poverty.
Oh wait. Latoya Jackson no doubt has some of her brother’s money. Ok, one.
The pit bull type was also used in rat baiting contests.
>>That was an irrational response.<<
I didn’t add that it was a trained attack dog and the only person it was trained to obey was her recently deceased husband.
Also, it’s just a dog. The risk is too great.

Nah chet99’s goal is to have us freepers constantly arguing with each other over his pit-bull posts.....................
“he left a very cute and loyal doberman that the whole family loved. “
“and the only person it was trained to obey was her recently deceased husband.”
Well, which is it?
The whole family loved the cute and loyal Doberman or it was a trained attack dog who obeyed no one but him?
FYI, a trained “attack dog” [they’re actually termed “protection dogs”] are infinitely *safer* and more reliable than your average household pooch who has *not* received such intensive training.
They have on/off switches and -rarely- “break training”.
[I guess I should’ve mentioned that the dog who did the tricks for the neighborhood kids was a “trained attack dog”, too]
Since Dobermanns are so far beyond being ~merely~ loyal and devoted to their beloved masters, it did not occur to anyone that the dog may have been grieving/emotionally suffering due to the loss of the “recently deceased husband”? No one considered rehoming it via the multitude of Dobermann rescue leagues?
Or offered to a law enforcement agency which would no doubt be overjoyed to have it?
It was just summarily -whacked- with no consideration or compassion whatsoever?
Thank God I have a spouse who will properly care for my dogs, should shuffle I off these mortal coils, if only in honor of the love *I* had for them.
“Also, its just a dog.”
Yeah.
Okay.
I know all I need to know, now.
Idle hands are the devil’s playground.
[though I’m not sure his hands are technically “idle”]
>>Well, which is it?
The whole family loved the cute and loyal Doberman or it was a trained attack dog who obeyed no one but him?<<
Both. They are not mutually exclusive.
>>They have on/off switches and -rarely- break training.<<
Is that just Doberman’s? Is it true for Pit Bulls too?
The family loved this Doberman, but with the alpha gone, it was a loose cannon. There may have been all sorts of explanations for what the dog did, but the bottom line is that out of concern for her kids she had it removed from them and put down.
We can question the wisdom of her actions, but we will never know what would have happened had she not done it. All we can do is speculate and, dogs being animals and not machines, we cannot really be sure what would have happened.
She merely mitigated risk.
>>Also, its just a dog.
Yeah.
Okay.
I know all I need to know, now.<<
So do I. ;)
I will try to reply with respect. I’m glad to know as a white female, 45 yrs old, at the same professional business job for 15 yrs, that I am considered trailer trash, or a thug because I own 2 American Pit Bull Terriers. Granted, I don’t live in Memphis, but 90 minutes East. I realize that the majority of citizens in Memphis that own this breed shouldn’t own a pet rock. But do not assume that the majority of owners are thugs or trailer trash. My dogs are great dogs.... why? Because I am a responsible owner that knows I’m accountable for their actions. It is my responsibility to make sure my dogs never roam loose, are UTD on shots, and are a good representation of the breed... something that most of the owners in Memphis care nothing about. Yes, there are some responsible owners, but for every one responsible owner, there are 3 irresponsible owners. If this lady knew the neighborhood kids were teasing her dog, she should have never left it tied up to a tree to be teased until it finally got loose and by then, the damage was done. I would never allow kids to tease my dogs, and if I couldn’t stop the kids, I wouldn’t let my dogs outside in the fenced in yard without my presence. This breed is an awesome breed, when handled correctly by responsible owners. Too often, that’s not the case. You never hear about the responsible owners dogs though, we never make the 5:00 news. I wonder why? Is it because that my dogs have been to obedience school, and even though I live on 25 acres, I never allow my dogs outside the fence, that my dogs are house dogs and never left unattended outside.... the responsible owners take the steps necessary to make sure our dogs do not end up on the news. But you never hear our stories. You only see one side of it. It’s racism of a different color, against me and the breed of dog I own. Why do I own 2 pit bulls? Because they are an awesome dog, but they are not for everyone. And half the people that own them shouldn’t own a rock. I adopted my youngest dog, Bella from a Pit Bull Bark in the Park walk in Memphis last March at Tom Lee Park. About 50+ responsible owners there, not one mean dog in the bunch. There is a pit bull Bark in the Park walk every month in Memphis... we’d love for you to come out and see the other side of the coin. Not all these dogs are raised by irresponsible owners, and the ones that are raised by responsible owners, are awesome dogs. Be warned though, Bella might just try to lick that look of disbelief off your face. ;)
Wow.. I’ve never heard so much hate spewed!! Pit bulls are actually very smart dogs. They are not supposed to be human aggressive, however, they are Terriers, and dog aggression with this breed is very normal. Hitting a dog with a baseball bat is... well, I will remain professional and just say, it’s wrong. They don’t have “locking jaws”, that’s just a myth. They do have a very tenacious attitude. The “proper” way to break up a dog fight, is with a break stick. I know, I’m a dog fighter because I have a break stick right? Funny, my husband works in Television, and I work as a professional secretary... I guess we don’t fit the thug mold very well, but we do own 2 of the greatest pit bulls around. Hitting this breed with a baseball bat will do two things, wear you out physically, and result in a serious vet bill... and if you hit my dog with a baseball bat, a lawsuit will follow. Oh, but wait... I don’t let my dogs run loose, and they are never outside unattended... so I guess you don’t have to worry about carrying your bat around to protect yourself from my dog. Thing is, when it comes to pit bulls, if you’ve got a cookie or biscuit, you can have any one of them sitting at your feet being the perfect example of what a fine breed they are. But you will never know this, you have already tried them, found them all guilty and are ready to hang them... a new brand of racism... against me and my breed of dog. If you want Correct facts regarding this breed... check out BadRap Monster Myths page.... http://www.badrap.org/rescue/myths.html Hold the ones responsible for this tragedy responsible... the owner of the dog who knew her dog was being teased and tormented and did nothing to protect the dog. Anyone that would continue to leave a dog outside that is being teased, instead of bringing it inside, is irresponsible. Until the irresponsible owners are held accountable for the actions of their dogs, responsible owners like myself will continue to suffer. I am a responsible owner of 2 pit bulls... why should my dogs suffer because some idiot that shouldn’t own a pet rock owns this breed, and doesn’t take responsibility for it? Until irresponsible owners are punished, the problems will continue. Banning the breed only gives the public a false sense of security... they ban pit bulls, the irresponsible owners will just find a new breed to abuse.
