We have to save someone so eloquent! :-)
I should point out as well that I’ve been using Foxit since 2003 and never had any problems. Pages load much faster than Adobe - no nag screens, etc. And the viewer is totally free - just make sure that when you install that you UNCHECK the boxes asking you to make ask.com your main search provider and anything else they’re trying to pimp.
NO!!! It's a plural not a possessive, it's "Fridays"
I have no use for anything Apple after I heard they are featuring an app that celebrates quotes from Che Guevara, yet are boycotting Glenn Beck for hate speech.
Bout time someone pipes up about Apple’s obvious bullying.
Adobe is the bad guy - Flash is the biggest memory hog in the known universe and it degrades the appearance and usability of almost every site where it is deployed. Apple is doing the right thing by taking a hard line, even if it is for self-interested reasons.
I use a free pdf writer and a free pdf reader.
Adobe had a nice run with their “proprietary” stranglehold on formats, but that’s not a guarantee.
It’s the same model that will fail Apple in the end - holding hardware hostage to proprietary/controlled software/content sales channel restraints.
I’m beginning to believe ‘they’ all suck. (except Firefox of course)
1.2 billion Windows PC’s install base, over 300 million Windows PC’s sold every year and rising, the fast selling Android smart phones, RIM smart-phones etc all of which use Flash say “HELLO!”.
Apple's install base of mac's, iPods and iPhones is too tiny to affect Adobe in any way when there are over 1.2 billion Windows PC’s using Flash.
As for his rather colorful language about Apple, I second that. After Apple’s boycotting of Fox, I think they can go jump into a boiling volcano for all I care.
However, I think Adobe could face a serious threat from Microsoft's Silverlight.
With public setbacks behind it, Silverlight shines.
I’m not a big fan of either company, but Apple is far, far worse. Adobe has “sold” more Apple computers than Steve Jobs ever has and Apple/Jobs have far eclipsed the “evil”, three-lettered company that they derided in the infamous “1984” commerical.
P.S. in terms of “bloatware”, may I present, “iTunes” - if you look up bloatware in the dictionary, it’s pictured there, in a fold-out. It’s genuinely breathtaking in it’s resource demands and general unusability.
I’ve never been a fan of apple. Reminds me too much of the control freaks in DC. They have some good products and I’m typing this right on an iPhone but I assure you my next phone won’t be from apple and I’ll never buy such an over hyped product like an ipad.
I really liked WordPerfect too.
I use Word 2007 to create PDF’s.
I don’t like Flash either, but not allowing it cripples the internet. It will be a decade before HTML 5 becomes the standard in video, and until that time you can’t see video on the iPad etc.
technically Flash is still in development for Android, but at least it’s coming sometime this year.
A free PDF writer? What’s it called?
That is what failed them in the beginning too when Microsoft sold the operating system on a floppy disk.
RE: “Apple is doing the right thing by taking a hard line, even if it is for self-interested reasons.”
Worth repeating. Flash sucks and Apple will make it go away, in the same way it made floppy disks, 3.5” diskettes, and Zip drives go away. Thank you Apple.
