May I offer a suggestion regarding the reduction of graduation money to your Obamite neices and/or nephews?
Give them half of the expected amount, and explain that you have been so moved by the President’s appeal for donations to Haiti Earthquake Relief that you have contributed the other half in their name.
In this way, you have made your point, and avoided a potential family conflict.
Just a thought.

I like your idea, but trust me under either circumstance there is no way to avoid conflict.
