This year it’s optional...next year probably starts the “it’s your duty”!

yep, that’s the thought that furrowed my brow.

The world is starting to scare the hell out of me.

Things can’t go on like this indefinitely...something will give somewhere.

This is what socialism and ObamaCare gets you. Once you become a “burden” to the state.... it’s lights out for you pal!

The article mentions a 23 y.o. athlete who killed himself at a Swiss clinic because he was paralyzed from the waist down after an accident. In truth it was worse than waist down; it was chest down with limited use of his hands and muscle spasms.

Only 23! He hadn’t had time to come to terms with his injury; he hadn’t even had time for enough rehab to maximize his physical functions.

I know two people who are living with this degree of spinal injury, both injured in their twenties, twenty years ago. They’ve managed to find meaning and enjoyment in their lives.

That his parents went with him to the clinic is insane. Of course a healthy young athlete is going to be in despair after an injury like this - his life as he knows it is over. That doesn’t mean that suicide should be any kind of option. Finding a new life is hard and suicide probably looks good for a while.

Why limit it to those 70 and over?

Eventually anyone over 70 will be looked upon as some sort of selfish, freeloading leech who has totally overstayed their welcome.

exactly, and what prevents them from doing themselves in on their own? Are there no tall buildings or bridges in Holland?

Mankind is truly so depraved! I can’t imagine how much longer God will let this go on before there is justice. He truly is merciful.

I see this as not only a social but a religious issue -- and one that affects all of us Christians where we NEED to keep our Churches free from these "modernizers"

I agree with Cronos. I hope the Traditional Anglican ping list members will concur. I KNOW ++Akinola would (not so certain about "Rowan the Fuzzy," as ahadams2 used to call him).

Isn’t this age discrimination? Why is 70 the magic number? What about those who have accomplished nothing and NEVER fully experienced life.
This is so insane and I agree with previous comments. First offing yourself is a choice, in time, it will be your duty for the good of the country. No wait, for the “good of the children”.
