My doctor has performed over 700 procedures, and he’s lost 2 patients. One was due to a blood clot (this was many years ago before they proactively practiced against this) and the other was a woman who went home from the hospital and stuffed herself, thereby ripping out the staples. You are not cutting out part of your intestines, you are re-routing your digestive tract.
Do some research, and you will find that the procedure is safe and very effective. This wasn’t the case 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago.
One more thing...do you think that I hadn’t tried to eat better? This procedure is not something that I, or many others, ventured into without alot of thinking.
They make her sick to her stomach.
Has she tried liquid vitamins? They may not be as harsh on her stomach. Also Ensure may help her get the nutrition she needs. Just a thought. :)
I hate to be the negative one, but my cousin had it done and was extremely sick. She had to be re-admitted to the hospital and was there quite a while. To add insult to injury, she eventually regained the weight she lost.
Although the surgery is promoted as being a “cure” for type 2 diabetes, I question whether that is true.
For more info on the possible bad outcomes of this surgery, do a search on it at http://junkfoodscience.blogspot.com/
I understand why people opt for the surgery, but I wonder if it is all it is cracked up to be.
God bless as you make your decision.
Just an update on the guy we know that had it done and gained some of the weight back. We saw him yesterday and he’s gained it all back and then some. He had it done about 5 years ago.
