Seriously though, next time someone says we should ban handguns and leave the protection up to the trained security guards, I’ll remember this incident.

Dook wain (John Wayne) played the type characters who said ‘A man's gotta’ do what a man's gotta’ do.” It was a Cultural thing. The declaration was freighted with responsibility. It was not a declaration of freedom to act as he damn well pleased.
There is NOTHING more inconvenient to Evil’s takeover than a lot of Men standing around keeping an eye on things who would be impelled by their own sense of Manhood to ACT (without further prompting and in the face of death if necessary) when the responsibility to do so came along.
Study the Ft. Hood massacre. The Cultural rot is FULL BAMDWIDTH in our society's institutions. These guards are units they are not individuals. But I have been in such situations as these guards and I KNOW that they felt the responsibility despite the PC training and inculcation. In general I KNOW when one does WRONG one KNOWS in his soul. In time the Truth fired cognitive dissonance will impel the damned few Men among the individuals who make up our society and it's institutions to declare themselves and STAND UP and throw off the Lies and hang the God-Damned liars or die trying. Anything less, To Men, is intolerable.

Wouldn't have to -- they could have simply positioned themselves between the girl and her attacker. And then at worst they too would have been beaten up, or beaten in place of the girl.
Years back I was at a restaurant with my family and parents, and a very large muscular man came in, grabbed a waitress, and carried her out the door, slamming her into a wall.
I'm 5'5, fat, out of shape, untrained and unarmed. But I jumped up and ran out the door after him -- no way I'm the bystander who lets a guy beat the crap out of a girl. The guy could have snapped me like a twig.
One other guy ran out after me -- the manager of the restaurant. After a little while, a bunch of others came out.
The manager stood and talked to the guy to keep him from driving off in his van (he threw the girl in the van), I stood right there quietly. Then the attacker punched the manager, who went down, and started kicking him.
And I stepped in between the attacker and the manager, with my back to the attacker, shouting "stop". And the guy did stop. He could have punched me in the back, could have had a knife, but again, I'm not the guy who is going to stand there and watch a man get kicked in the face, and I figured my legs could take a kick more than a head. I think it helped that by that time, half the restaurant was standing and watching, but it would have been nice for a couple more of the men to step in. Eventually the police showed up.
So I KNOW what I would do if I saw someone being attacked, and knowing how ill-equipped I am, I have no patience at all for trained security guards who would not put their own lives in danger for another person.

I’m a little more selective about who I’m willing to die for these days, or even get fired or sued over especially when the legal deck is stacked against me.
But you’re free to lead by example.
I hope to God no one ever needs your help - in a foxhole, airplane, on the street, wherever. Just stand by with your arms folded, don’t worry it’s cool.
Those guards were neglegent.
A REASONABLE person would have at least tried to disrupt the attack and scare the attackers away.
As security guards, it won’t be hard to prove that they had a DUTY to prevent crime.
No one says that they have to enter the altercation physically but to step aside and simply spectate while a chld is beaten unconscious is reprehensible.
I hold more contempt for the ‘guards’ than for the thugs.

They didn’t even bend down to check on the girl after the attackers left.
That statement makes you no better than the guards on the video.
