Yep...your response was Spot On!
THank you. I always have to same reaction as you. :)
Unfortunately, you will have to watch the first 5 seasons in sequence to make any sense of the final season.
However, they do have an hour “recap” at 8pm, that may help, but I have doubts...and I’m not being glib. It’s just very complicated from the science to the mythology and philosophy to the “ships (relationships).
Give it a try and if you like it find someone who has the other seasons on DVD.
I never watched a single episode until after the 4th season when a friend recommended it and gave me season 1 and 2. Bought 3 and 4 and was up to speed for the 5th.
BTW - My Dvd’s are loaned out all the time and not once have I ever given them to soneone who didn’t become hooked.
I did read about the numbers on Lostipedia, and I’ve seen a few of the Dharma videos. Feel free to share any theories you have ... this is the last season we can theorize, after this we’ll know the answers :(
Thanx guys...I hope they open the other thread.
I can’t say I’m not a bit miffed mine was locked.
It’s open but would be nice to have everyone on the same thread.
Actually the OFFICIAL Lost thread is here:

Thankyouverymuch
It would be hard to “jump in” at this point. It may not mean anything to you if you don’t “know” the characters. I would reccommend watching the dvd’s from the start os season one. It has a strong spiritual context, great characters and storyline.
maybe it’s actually the same hour, with the first one for those who know what’s going on, the second with subtitles for those who don’t and the third for the West Coast.
BTW...glad to make the acquaintance of another Lost fan.
Cool...glad to see they reopened it!
In the Sri Lanka video Alvar Hanso says the numbers give the exact number of years and months until mankinds annihilatin. I thought that phrase was weird, one would normally say "months and years".
But let's back up some. The numbers came from Valenzetti who was commissioned by the UN the determine how much longer mankind had to exist. This happened after the Cuban missile crisis in Oct 1962 and said it was completd "in less than a year". We have to do a little extrapolation here. The UN doesn't do anything quickly so let's say that order came in early to mid 1963.
Years and months, years and months. 4-8-15-16-23-42
Taking Hanso at his words, let's apply 4-15-23 as years and 8-16-42 as months. Add them up and you come up with 47.5 years. If Valenzetti completed his work "in less than a year" that brings us to mid 1964 or 1964.5. Add 47.5 years and you have...
Ouch!
I loved the recaps you were posying last season...aare you planning to post them again this year?
I will catch it on Hulu when available - not turning tv on for that.
“...due to trace iron trailings embedded in the ice from mining activities in Alaska.”
No iron mines in AK. But the part about the bears chowing down looks interesting.
End cuts to Hubbard with T. Cruise at his side - Cruise is wearing a skimpy leather outfit smiling up at a 10 foot tall Hubbard, who on closer inspection is realy a slimy bug in a Hubbard suit. End Lost.
Hulu.com has/had the entire 5 seasons.
Thanx guys...I hope they open the other thread. I can't say I'm not a bit miffed mine was locked.
Lucky9teen, "actually" and to clarify, the first "OFFICIAL" thread of any topic is the one which is posted first. This thread was posted over 12 minutes prior to the thread you later posted.
This is why we ask everyone to use Free Republic's search engine prior to posting. Had you searched, you would have noticed that there was already an "OFFICIAL" thread started
When there are identical threads on the same story, the person who posted the first thread is the person whose thread stays up. Your thread was posted over 12 minutes later than this first thread.
Normally we would have pulled your thread instead of locking it but we instead chose to lock it so that those few who had posted on the later and second thread could still view their own posts.
The Poster of this first thread was then gracious enough to request that your later thread be re-opened.
Thanks.
I have an idea - don’t watch it or participate in the discussion.
Now responding to something you view as stupid is well stupid.
Duly noted. Thankyou
