Check out LL Bean or eBay. They are great and pack/fold very compactly.

Sometimes I wear my Crocs in the shower. Crocks are the perfect shoes for travel. You can slip them off to get thru security and on a long plane ride, they are perfect slippers for the hotel, shower shoes, pool shoes, etc.

Sleep sacks are gaining popularity. Very much like a thin sleeping bag.

I avoid hotels at all cost....

As retireds, we travel around a bit and always use KOA's Kamping Kabins. They cost almost as much as a motel/hotel but you sleep on your own bedding, are not bothered by 2 a.m. arrivals or blasting TVs, and enjoy the Great Outdoors. There's nothing like an after-dinner cigar on the porch of a Kabin, hearing critters chirp, and enjoying the aroma of a campfire.

Off and on, we'll try a motel but despite the amenities of an in-room toilet, we always end up in a Kabin the next time around.

We no longer screen immigrants for disease or criminal history. Open borders and a don’t ask don’t tell politburo that provides sanctuary in our largest cities.

I did a Google on the place over in Palm Springs, and got my suspicion confirmed - it caters to the gay crowd.

Virginia Beach, as any local will tell you, is FAMOUS for having filthy hotels. As one of the managers was quoted, “What do you expect when you pick the cheapest hotel available?”

There was a “no tell-motel” near where I used to work as a Volunteer EMT. They would charge by the hour and when you checked in, they would hand you the sheets, two pillowcases and two cans of beer.
I guess the beer was foreplay. It was so dirty that when we got called there, The police would hold our jumpkit off the ground for us so we wouldnt have cockroaches hitch a ride.
YUK....
