As far as Glenn Beck, he's obviously gone off the meds (or something like that), it appears... :-)
Beck is nuts, as to whether Mormonism made him nuts on this thing or not, I don't know.
I’ve been deciding what I think of Beck for a while.
Today helped me decide.
I don’t like him.
And I am tired of his sensational and overdramatic promotions.
Christians note: he’s a Mormon. He is either extremely confused or is, spiritually, your enemy.
For men to pose, harmlessly and covered like that, was at the time seen as almost a feminist act of support in equalizing what had been a traditional double standard: women were shamed and condemned for posing in pictures men weren’t shamed and condemned for purchasing and using.
Just about the time I get to really liking Beck, he goes off like this and blows it. I don’t know what makes the guy tick, but it seems to me the self-destructive urges he’s described in his past may at times just take on a new form.

Well, Beck, being a Mormon, is just like Romney in that respect... in that he's a member of a cult group...
As far as Romney is concerned, it's a good thing we didn't get a cult-group member as the one to vote for, for Republicans as President of the United States. Let's make sure that Romney never comes back to do that one again...
And a "cult group" as it's defined in Christian circles is any group that denies the basic, historic and foundational teachings of Christianity, just as Mormonism does...
That’s not what it sounded like, he actually sounded jealous.
I have watched a couple of his shows.
My interest in Beck is that “he ALSO is talented and can communicate to many, many people who ordinarily don’t follow politics and often teaches them a lot of history and politics.” (Recovering Hippie)
For myself, it is like being in the choir and daydreaming while the minister gives a sermon. I still appreciate the idea that the minister is reaching someone in the pews who needs it.

What I don't agree with is the Hero part.
Brown is not the hero .. The people of .. Masachutses, Massachewsits .. uh, Massachusetts are the real Heros!
It appears that Brown is center left. That is why I decided not to make calls on his behalf. He voted for Romneycare, but will vote against HCR. I will be watching and hoping I am very wrong.
Beck did , yes he did.
But, no one likes someone else raining on their parade.
We don’t mind if it’s someone else’s parade (party), but it better not be ours.
Beck is probably voicing things that he ‘sees’ that he thinks could be a problem. He might be right, he might be wrong.
So... time will tell. Beck will survive, or will not. Brown will be successful, or a failure.
The big point is that the world isn’t going to end, or change just because of Brown or Beck. Brown and Beck may have removed a brick or two from the wall, but it will take a lot of hands to get them all.
I’m just a little irritated at the groupthink going on among republicans lately.
Not every criticism is an attack.
Brown’s acceptance sounded like the average NJ suburbanite bafoon. He so doesn’t get that it wasn’t him that was elected. A lot of MA folks are just trying to stop our out of control Congress. It would not surprise me if R’s and D’s are both routed unless they really have a record of being a “kook” who votes no on every bill. Cuz those are the exactly the “kooks” that a majority of Americans want now that they realize that we’re going to economically slide until the gubmit gets off the backs of the little working person, Both tax-wise AND regulation-wise. Just bought a printer made in Vietnam with an HP name on it. Hey, we’re all for international trade, but Many big corps and the beltway just do NOT get it, and it is infuriating to those who work and pay the bills.

Yes, in a way they are. But that is now really how we define heroes.
When a fireman saves a child , we give him an award, not the taxpayers who fund the fire department.
Perhaps one could say that BROWN was the focus that enabled the voters to be heroes for their country.
You make a good point. Beck is a former substance abuser who has gotten clean and is accepted as a solid conservative. If Brown posed SEMI nude 20 years ago, and never again since, why can’t he be accepted?
The real point of criticism is that the critic is offering the subject advice on perceived problems. The subject is wise who reviews what was said and prepares for dealing with those issues (or corrects them) should they be brought up later.
We may not LIKE what BECK said, but to ignore it may be to our peril.
Posing in a bathing suit is not posing “semi-nude.” That was the terminology adopted by the MSM in order to slime Brown.
